Battery has finally died after about 5 winters. No complaint but I expect to have a problem finding a replacement which will fit into the box. Has anyone tried a motorcycle battery which fit a 1992 Acty pickup? Will a lawn tractor/mower battery work?

Just get the biggest battery you can find that still fits within the box, it'll be fine. Lawn/garden battery would work, large motorcycle battery too... looking for about 24~32 AH. If you need to, changing the terminals on the ends of the battery wires is easily done, to match your new battery.

Thanks for advice. I did just that and got one that was almost a perfect match. Same length and width but two inches shorter. It's now in and working. When I checked at Honda motorcycles a battery would have cost around $150. Got the one at Canadian Tire for $69.

Good deal... maybe post up what it is for future reference.

Honda parts tend to be expensive, yep...

I was just told by a dealer that the Honda Fit battery is a good replacement for my 1990 Acty. I haven't checked the prices on it though.

I just replaced the battery in my '89 with a group 51 battery. It fits perfectly and has 500 CCA. It was about $100 (Wisconsin).

My 2007 Fit Base has an EverStart Maxx 151R 340CCA (currently $120USD at the U.S. Wal*Marts) battery in it. I think it is the third since I bought it in May 2006. I measured and the dimensions are 13mm deep by 18mm wide by 23.5mm tall. I have a Bosch 40B19R 300CCA (¥1590JPY/$14USD online in Japan, not including shipping) battery in my Acty van. The measurements are 12.7mm deep by 18.7mm wide by 22.6mm tall. It appears as though the Fit battery will fit in the Acty battery tray. The only difference is that the Fit's battery has the terminals at the far end with positive on the left and negative on the right and the Acty has the terminals on the close end with positive on the left and negative on the right. I don't know if the positive and negative terminal connectors are long enough to reach without some sort of adapter. Costco does not sell a replacement battery for the Fit. AutoZone sells a Duralast Gold 151R DLG 340 CCA for $160USD. Batteries Plus has a Duracell SL151R for $140USD. Rumor has it that a 51R battery will fit in the Fit, and, should also fit in the Acty.

When you put in the Lawn and Garden battery, did you just screw the battery clamps onto the square posts of the battery, or did you modify the leads at all to fit on the battery terminals?
