Does the justy distributor cap work on a Domingo? What # is it?
I think that a Ford festiva air filter works...

Nope, my distributor screws came out easily. Use some Liquid Wrench / PB Blaster spray or some other penetrating oil. You're right to be careful not to round those off.

The battery that came with mine was smaller than the battery box, and had to be shimmed in place! It looked like a lawnmower battery. So when I replaced it with a Honda Civic battery (430A) the difference was so huge I didn't bother comparing.

If 350 and 500A are your two options, sounds like neither will be a perfect fit. Whatever!

can someone help me some information please? I am trying to figure out the issue of Exhaust Heat Temperature warning light in the dashboard ("chevy" logo with vertical wavy bars). the sensor for this is on the passenger side in the engine compartment (02 sensor is on the driver side, me thinks). this warning light comes on even when the engine is cold, just started. it used to disappear and flicker as I was driving but now it stays solidly ON which makes me think it's the sensor itself and not the cat converter. could someone measure Exhaust Heat Temperature sensor resistance on their Domingo for me please? i would like to know the sensor resistance when the engine is cold and when it's hot. Once i know these two I can size up a proper replacement. Also when the sensor is disconnected from the wire from CPU what does the voltage measure on the wire that comes from the CPU. in my Domingo i measure 9.66V from the CPU when the engine is ON, Sensor resistance is very hight when the engine has been just turned on (about 20Mom or almost no path to ground). Once the engine warms up the sensor resistance drops slowly to about 200 kOm. Another question is: to by pass the sensor do I just take the wire from the CPU and connected to ground? Is this going to short anything else in the system. I guess the CPU needs low resistance when the engine is just ON and high resistance when the engine is high. Thanks for your help.

I have the same light on in my car and also looked for all kinds of info like you. Guessing it is the temp sensor. When I tried the subaru engine code
thing I came up with 54 Whatever that means. So I went to the local dealer and they said it was the o2 sensor--They had imported a few Domingos,
but never actually looked at mine. So I got one off ebay for an 88 justy I think. and now I have a code 50-which might be good; but I don t know. The light is still on though .maybe I have to clear it somehow.
Re the distributor cap screws--The upper one broke off on my car and I had to remove the distributor to get it out I used penetrating oil, heat, a drill press; it was not fun but finally got it out.

Mago. I was in the same situation with the distributor cap screws, but the bottom one broke off. i removed the distributor body and drilled the broken bolt out, had about 3 threads left in the body for a new screw and put a nut on the back of it.

Back to our problem with the temp sensor. You might be correct regarding the clearing the control unit. I bought a software and cable yesterday and it should be here in 10 working days. It looks like you live in Vancouver so if you are interested you can come over or we can meet somewhere to read the code and clear it, if it help.

Did you also try to short the wire that connects to temp sensor to ground? This should eliminate the warning light according to other responses on this board.

The sensor you bought on eBay, is it the original sensor? Do you have any info on it?

If you are interested contact me directly andreym at live.ca

anthill, i got the EvoScan and SSM OBD1 cable and trying to play with it but I don't think it works yet. do you have this software/cable for your domingo? if so, were there any configurations you had to do to the software to communicate to ECU?

Dang, that's exciting! I didn't end up buying the software/cable (I figured out that spewing rich/gassy exhaust on cold startup is normal). Maybe I should have changed the wording to "this might work". Have you got any response posting on the evoscan forums? I know that finding the memory map for each particular vehicle's ECU can take a bit of trial and error.

I was going to tonight, but it looks like the EvoScan Forum page is down, it says: Forbidden. You don't have permission to access /forums on this server. I submitted a ticket to Help and Support last night, will see what they reply.

I was wondering if anyone has information on where to get parts for 94 subaru domingo? My two front wheel bearings are shot :(

I've bought parts from RockAuto, you just have to enable their european parts option. Not sure if they stock wheel bearings. Bearings tend to be fairly standard, so you could always pull them and take them around an industrial bearing distributor to find a match.

I went on the RockAuto website, couldn't find any bearings though.......... am I looking in the wrong place?

I found bearings for a Sambar.......... does anyone know if the bearings are all pretty generic? Would Sambar bearings work on the Domingo?
    :(

Hey looking for any info on north american sources or part numbers for for a clutch and throw out bearing on a 93 domingo. Also break part numbers. Id much rather not order them from Japan if possible. Any help would be great thanks.

As far as I know you're going to have to buy from a parts importer. There are a few in Vancouver, Canada, but since they're not forum sponsors I can't mention them.

If you want a set of front brake pads or rear shocks for a KJ8 -style (boxy) Domingo, I have those for free + shipping, though...

Hello.... I was wondering if anyone has had heard of any bearing failures in transmission or transfer case or chain drive system in their domingo?
Mine is making this noise which is constant, until my wheels stop turning.......... it seems to be coming from the middle underneath .......... near transmission case...... One fellow said it sounds like a bad bearing but he wasn't too familiar with the domingo transmission set up........... he wanted to know if there are any schematics of what an automatic transmission lay out was like, so he can kind of pin point what the problem could be?
    Anybody? Help? Please?

Hi piglet - have PMed you with manuals. I haven't had any problems like that with my Domingo (or any problems to speak of). Hope your gearbox oil isn't low!

Any mechanic-y friend should be able to help. There are two big hex-socket plugs on the transmission (next to the engine). The upper one is the fill plug, the lower one the drain plug. When cold and parked on a level surface, the transmission oil should be filled to just barely dripping out the top filler plug.

To change the gearbox oil you can pull the bottom drain plug. Refill with 75W-80 GL-4 fluid only! You can also check for metal shavings on the plug (which is a BAD SIGN).

Is there a dipstick to check the level of gearbox fluid? My dad was wondering............ he said that he saw a dipstick and was wondering if that was for the transmission fluid..........and if there was one for the gearbox? Sorry for bugging you about this :\

    Hi,
I just had a bearing replaced in my automatic transmission....... it was re-installed but all it does is make a whining noise and won't move.... is there some kind of fail safe on domingo's? Need help please :(

    Well........ thanks anyways.......
Also, I am sorry if some of my questions seem a little "simple" by a mechanics standard..... it's probably because I'm not a dude :)
And you are right.... "Them automatics" :frustration:

Which part number, Matt? Number 9? No idea... How did it get worn out in the first place?

I have a Domingo 1200cc auto-transmission 4WD air-con. I have a German manual but don't speak a word of German. I'd LOVE a French version as I speak some French and my brother is bi-lingual. I'm particularly interested in pages relating to the auto transmission as mine has just packed up and my mechanic isn't sure where to start to identify/fix the problem.

Did you manage to fix your gearbox problem? Reason I ask is it looks like mine has packed up & I need help. Can you put me in contact with whoever fixed your van?

Did you manage to get to the bottom of this problem because I believe my beloved van has the same issue? Any tips or details of who fixed your van greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know if the auto gearbox from a Subaru Justy will fit a Subaru Domingo? Trying to keep my options open as have seen an automatic Justy on ebay being sold for spares.

Got this fixed by Japanoid as I didn't have the right tools to push the bushing on.

I'm in another pickle right now - clutch has died on my 5spd. I believe the parts swap requires a full engine removal, but does anyone know if you can do that AND still roll the car? The kind folks at the service center near the breakdown said they'd be willing to look at it, but not if it has to sit on the lift for a week while the parts come in!

I've been told that most Justy parts are simply not compatible - might be worth a call to Japanoid in BC or CVI just to ask - they seem to be pretty good at answering these questions!
