Sounds similar to how mine all began........ Your moving along nicely though. I got my rims direct from the local arctic cat shop here. Fit perfect. My only issue was that I ordered them with a massive offset. 5 inches out away from the truck on each wheel made the lug nut holes a bit deep hahaha. With my rims on I'm 9.5 inches wider than with the tires that I got the truck with. 23-9-12 front and rear. But after doing my temporary lift........ Had to get the new 10.5 inch wide tires to clear in the front. So if you haven't ordered your rims yet....... Make sure you order four rear rims. The owner of our arctic cat shop said the rear are a bit tougher and have the clearance for the disk breaks in front.

I was messing with the rear shocks and took notice of the transmission / cross member mounts. I took note of the time and immediately called & ordered two replacements. The one on the passenger side has no bottom bolt and the one on the drivers side is completely missing.

Added the radio and installed a new antenna, still need to fab up a center box and fiberglass it to hold two 6.5" speakers. This will prevent me from having to drill into the door and deal with clearance issues on the window etc. It also utilizes the dead space between the dash and floorboard below.

Also, in the picture is my new shift knob I found on ebay! It has the same shift pattern and is much more legible, color was a perfect match.

Radio Harness, spaner this appears to be the same as yours so I am going to follow your wiring diagram of:
    White/ Solid - Battery Power
    White/Black - Ignition Power
Cig Lighter - Black - Ground

Does anyone know what size and kind of bolt went here? Mine doesn't have one and would like to get it replaced.
    radiomount.jpg

Who has the secret to get these apart? They are the clips that hold the front panel (radiator cover) on. Do they even come apart? Is the proper procedure for removing the panel to remove the two screws then slide the panel over so that the entire clip comes off the sheet metal?

On the clips, they pry apart. The white piece is a diamond shaped piece that snaps into the black receiver .The black piece mounts on the truck while the white piece fits in the panel. You will see where it just slides into it's mount. When they get old they become brittle and you have to be real careful to line them up or they break.

Okay Jim, I'm going to pry one apart. I'll post pictures of the carnage later LOL. Luckily I have more on the way should I screw up.

Do you happen to know the size of the bolt that went into the radio support?

Sorry I don't know about the bolt and I tried to look at mine but can't locate it.Hopefully someone who has done a replacement will chime in.

The bolt your looking for for the radio screws into the back of the deck. That bar is what holds it up. If ya don't have it connected to the back of the radio the rear of the deck will eventually drop somewhat pulling the deck out of the dash. I believe I had to go in threw the ash tray to unbolt the bottom of that bracket so I could bolt it to my CD player

Yes I know, I don't have one. I am looking for the size and length if anyone has it.

The size and length varries depending on the radio you install. Some are the same. Some arent. Ive seen fine thread as well as course. Just depends on your radio. Id just bring it with you wherever you go to buy bolts. Thats what i had to do. I believe it was a 6mm fine thread for my pionere deck. Had a 10mm bolt head

It should be the same size as the bolt behind the ash tray that you have to take out to remove that bracket....... If your lucky. Ya might try that one just to see

I saw that after closer inspection and took it to the store and matched it... It's an M5.8 and I used a 16MM length a standard #24-32 x 1/2 machine screw could also work but remember its a metric nut back there.

The upholstery shop called me late last night to tell me the seats, back rest, head rests and side panels were ready for pickup!

I had them cut out pre-punched holes for my speakers. I tried to get some 4" speakers to fit but I think the 3.5" will be the ticket. Thanks to Spaner for the easy to follow directions on an older thread for installing the radio properly without blowing fuses.

Here are the additional shots of the interior. It came out great. Charcoal gray marine vinyl perfect for the wet & muddy conditions I will be putting them through.

You can see where I took the bedliner up the door and taped it off just above where the door panel falls. The interior is all bed lined as well to provide easy clean outs of mud, dirt & feathers lol.

    interior1.jpg interior2.jpg interiordoor.jpg interiordoor2.jpg

I also got a new front panel kit for the carry so the radiator is once again recovered the way it should be from the factory.

I'm still waiting on my tires & rims which will be in Tuesday and a rear receiver hitch I ordered to pull the trailer full of decoys out to the field. A transmission mount and some other miscellaneous items remain to get her into good driving order.

My next mission is to fix the carb there is a local shop that specializes in the mini trucks and I'm highly tempted to drop it off for them to tackle my issue.

After that I can focus on trying to fab up the rear seats and rack.

    Pretty sweet..;)

After many years in the bush there is one thing that I can say for sure, tapes don't skip; ever...:p
    Still nice though,

After more than a few years of ownership, I baby talk the running gear all the time, but I have to admit that I haven't even washed the truck in a year...;) My dad gives me crap about it all the time. I say "yea, but it won't make the truck work any better, and he ain't for picking up chicks" heh, heh...
The guys cringe when I do a Canadian Car Wash, high speed through the tags, "the paint, the paint!, jeez!"

That's what he's for. I could have another truck, just for plowing through the bush, at my whim, but this one is mine..:D

PS, you should see the dents in the doors; make you cry..

Hahahha spaner....... A man after my owm heart!!! I think the only time i wash my mud truckk is when i have to fix something or make something better hahaha my carry is following suit as well. She hardly cools off now that she is running.

WestEndAngler...... The bench seat out if a mazda or ford ranher fits perfect across the back of the cab. I mounted one there and speakers in the headache rack for my passengers to enjoy whatever i choose to torture them with hahaha. I also mointed a bucket seat in back along one side. So in short 4 people and 2 dogs ride quite cozy hahaha

Looks like bus seats would work great for what ya need. Im working on putting together a front bumper so i can run my winch on either end amd have simething to hook to........ Darn heavy front end hahahaha

I'd be interested in a brush guard for my front end.

The 3.5" speakers came in but the holes do not have enough spacing to hit the panel on all four screws. Thus, I'm going with the 4" speakers and using a 1/4" spacer made for me my buddy at his car audio shop. The 4" will allow me to push 100w to the two speakers plus they are waterproof. Now if only I could find them in black and not white which I currently have.

Tires & new rims should be here tomorrow.

Not sure if I mentioned this but I had a locksmith come out and get my door locks working. He cut a key to open the locks and made me a copy of my only ignition key so now I have two complete sets and I can finally lock the doors if ever needed.

FedEx finally dropped off the tires & rims after a day delay.

I quickly got them mounted and bolted on. Took her for a drive around the block and all is well.

Well today I decided to try and get some sea foam through the fuel lines. It didn't work out to well the carb spacer fell out because of the stripped threads so I had to abandon my attempt. I pulled the carb and noticed its pretty dirty.

I tried the Sea Foam trick to no avail so the carb was again removed and is on it's way to Hite Parts to get worked on.

I received a bolt on rear receiver hitch that mounts to the frame (each side of the rear leaf hangers) via 4 bolts. It can be welded too.

    vedy2ane.jpg

I may be looking at other alternatives for the rear hitch not 100% sold on this one. It was just being mocked up so the 2" receiver hitch is not pictured.

Added the front fender flares. I think it ended up looking good and will cut down on the rocks hitting my arm.

Well guys, she is done! Well, I still need to weld up of the rear hitch I bought and fabricate the rear benches and rack that will bolt to the truck bed. I took her around the neighborhood and she is running great.

I sent the carb off to Hite Parts in Ohio and they did a fantastic job for me. I installed the carb, turned the key and she started purring like a kitten! I didn't have to touch a single thing! The clean carb along with all the maintenance items mentioned in this thread has given me a smooth running, reliable hunting rig.

Here are some photos of the clean carb

    cleancarb.jpg cleancarb2.jpg cleancarb3.jpg

I noticed there are two fuel filters so I installed the second fuel filter which was a PITA because the fuel started squirting everywhere :frustration: luckily this allowed me to drain the tank and so I used it to my advantage and got any potential bad gas out of the tank. I ran the rest out of it today with 1 GA of fresh gas.

I also received two stock transmission mounts. I was missing one and the nut on the passenger side was missing allowing the transmission to bounce around so I replaced them with two new ones identical to stock.

I am still waiting on some miscellaneous items like a window rain shield for the drivers side and I'm trying to find the mud flaps for the drivers side. Still no luck yet but the window shield I'm told is perhaps on its way to me from Twin Rivers ATV.

I think Trax once told me what the cost was but if you wouldn't mind sharing I would surely like to know because I am seriously thinking about sending mine. Also what kind of turn around do they have?

Nice project an thanks for sharing

It was around $300. I paid extra for next day air back to me. It was about a 13 day turn around. I sent it and it arrived 8/9 and I got the carb back today 8/22. The guy I spoke to said they were backed up. I did inquire making sure they received the carb after a few days. Luckily they didn't have to order any parts, they had all the parts they needed in house and did a terrific job. I spoke to Trax as well about trying everything before sending it in. I tried it all and couldn't get it to work right so overall I'm glad I sent it in because the truck runs great now. I'm a month away from hunting season and just need to get myself a trailer lol. I'll try and get some video this weekend and upload a short YouTube clip.
