HI I se nobody have been here for over a year but may be someone still reads it.

I need some help with my E12 its 1991 model and i am putting in a motor from 1997 model. I need the repair manual for 1997 to get the electrical schematics for engine,Power supply and Engine room fan system, chapter 1-8 and 9 out of Wiring diagram. I got the 1997 supplement to service manual but it got only some supplements and i need more. The are few wires from the computer i don´t now were to connect, so if any one can help that would be great.
Oh and i scanned in the supplement 1997 manual to PDF and the 1988 Specification and service data booklet i have to PDF also so if any one need it il be glad to help out.

    HI
Got used fuel pump one that came with engine pissed fuel all over my engine. and put it in, started up fine, got a bit of fuel flow problem so i had to make some changes in fuel lines, now it´s running fine
checked the codes in engine comp and got few ;(
wonder if i have the right reasons for it.
Code: 33-Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) or circuit. (it´s normal not the right dashboard, meters) so nothing to connect to.
Code: 35-Canister purge solenoid or circuit
    Code: 43-Throttle switch (lost there)
Code: 62-Electric load signal (whata hel.. is that)
Code: 63-Blower fan switch (think i got a idea but working on it)
I wonder if this is the right translation for code number in E12 1997..
Do any one have the codes,, cant find them in the manual

    spec book and manual

Just starting out on this quest, I'll accept any help. Not sure what .djvu format is, but looks like I'll be learning more about computers at the same time?

thanks for any and all info.

Hello, I am the owner of a 93 domingo. It needs a throw out bearing and clutch. Is there any chance the justy is at all the same? I've also experienced intermittent spark loss during rain. Any help on these two issues would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Cory

Check the distributor cap about that spark problem. They have this little rubber hose on them. I think it's a great gateway for water/moisture/gunk. I really don't know what were they thinking when they decided to put that there.
I have like a gazillion used spare distributor caps from the last owner. Obviously, he changed them like socks.
As for the clutch, I got nothing. I have the same curiosity. Very likely that I'll need a new clutch as well on my '92. Hope I don't, but if someone knows, please tell us.

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie to the forum, so apologies if I've multi-posted or ask these questions in the wrong section. Having just bought a 1997 Subaru Domingo CV Japanese import to the UK (model E-FA7, engine EF12), I'm having overheating problems. It mostly manifests itself when stopping as a bubbling of coolant out of the radiator pressure cap and a hot rubber smell to the rear right-hand side of the vehicle. The temperature gauge seems to sit mid-range whilst driving (the weather's been cold since purchasing it and no long, hard trips have been attempted so far).
I asked one of my Japanese friends to translate the warning sign near the radiator pressure cap and he provided the attached. My question is this: where exactly is the 'drain hose plug which is in front of spare tyre' as it does not seem obvious to me! Any help of advice gratefully received. Thanks, Ade - macuserade@aol.com

Check the cooling fan and cooling fluid pump/drive. sounds like a problem relaited to that.. it´s just a idea, but cooling pump could be not working right.

If the setup is anything like the Sambar van, your drain hose will be be under the spare tire. Remove the spare, look a up, your drain hose should be next to the electrical wires. It might be visible, or tucked in between the wire tubing.

    Hello,

I stumbled onto this forum when I was recently looking for some information (in English) about my Domingo. I live in Japan and speak/read Japanese but I was looking for some additional insight and was/am excited to find this forum. I have a 96 Domingo (ECVT - 1200ccc - AWD) and love it. Recently I had an issue with the plug wires arching which resulting in rough engine performance and eventually got so bad that there was so much fuel making it to the catalytic converter that it got extremely hot and was glowing!

The end of that story is that I got: new plugs (iridium - I know that was probably overkill), new silicone plug wires (also overkill) and a new factory coil as my coil was arching as well. I managed to get everything installed and it runs like a dream again but I think I've probably almost killed my catalytic converter as it is still getting a little red after driving. I'm not noticing any performance issues but I think it's probably partially clogged and/or melted inside and is thus not passing exhaust the way it is designed to and thus overheating. I don't think I have any fuel mixed exhaust now that I've fixed the ignition issues so my guess is a damaged converter.

Anyway, I'm excited to be a member here and looking forward to interacting with other Domingo owners. I have the official Subaru manual (2 book set) in Japanese and can help with any documentation people might need. :)

    Regards

    Jason

P.S. Also installed a new powder clutch several years back! Complete engine removal for that one. The manuals and a very friendly mechanic here in Japan who helped with some advice were enough for me to get that one done but I'm getting a bit older and probably wouldn't want to do it again. :)

    Welcome Jason!
How nice it is to have someone from Japan! Thank you for your offer to share your documentation. I would be interested in receiving the manual hoping the illustration will suffice!
Oh and good luck with your Cat-converter. Your diagnostic makes sens.

Hi...... I am new to the forum.... I just recently bought a 1994 Subaru Domingo and am trying desperately to find any manuals to get more familiar with how to fix the simple things... not successful as of yet : \
I was wondering if anyone would know about the headlights? My left side low beam is out and I'm not sure if it is a bulb I need to change or do I have to replace the whole headlight? And if it is just a bulb, how do I get access to it in order to change it?
If anyone can help, I would sincerely appreciate it ... :1

    Hello and welcome.

As far as headlights are concerned, all you need to do is replace the bulb. Look under the dash, find the headlight and remove the protective rubber to get access to the bulb.

As far as manuals go, Domingo manuals are in Japanese only. Some members managed to get a manual for the Libero, but only in German. There are slight differences between the Libero and Domingo (LHD being the most obvious) but for most part it's the same vehicle. :)

How about the wipers? Do you use 15", two in the front and one in the back. Just regular J-hook type. Air filter: FRAM CA6625 works well, not a perfect fit but close. It's 1/8" too narrow on the width side, but fits fine in the compartment.

Does anyone one know what are the differences between Justy and Domingo engines or similarities? I am just curious how much of Justy parts I might be able to use on my Domingo 1995 I just brought from Japan :)

Same core, different output power...... but all the bits and pieces around the engine are different to accommodate both positionings subaru_EF12_engine_compare.jpg (upright for the Justy and horizontal for the E12).

I have couple questions regarding your write up:

    1. Did you have hard time removing distributor cap screws? I am trying to back out the screws but it feels like they are going to break, it looks like they have never been removed.
2.Is your new battery longer than the original battery? I put a new 350A battery and it is exactly the same size as the original, but there was an option of 500A battery but it seemed little too long for the battery compartment. Now, looking at your picture it looks like your new battery is larger than the original or is just a perception? my 350A battery is 7 1/2" long, 500A battery was 9" long. Just wondering if 9" long battery would have fit.
