    Spaner confused:confused:
You say that you found it, but that one is brand new.
If you found a picture (where?) then it should have told you what it was for..
It's like getting "tweets", no disrespect, just expand a little please:D

That is the in-line thermal valve for the pre-heat choke system on the carb and is placed inline on the left side choke connection to the rear of the engine water jacket.

You don't need to test it, it's brand new...:p

I thought that it was at least a little funny, ya know, gets kind'a dry around here.
The only way to test the valve is to use it. I suspect that it was disconnected in the first place because it, and it's acocciated coolant line, were blocked by rust. Being left open to the elements, beyond repair now I would think. This is one of the first things that are looked at on the imported trucks, with 80% or so being blocked on arrival. Most guys just eliminate it. I replaced mine with an in-line filter to help remove rust particals. Has been replaced once already. My pics floating around the site somewhere...

NB. Wanted to add, might be an idea to get a replacement for guys using their truck in the dead of winter, for longer choke operation times during warm-up. It acts just like the thermostat for the rad, since this line comes off the water jacket...it does heat up faster without than with. But I've never found it to be a problem.
