Lol. I agree headwinds + liteaces do not mix. Liteaces have some finiky aerodynamics.

The little roof basket I just added to mine is like I added a 1000lb anchor! The basket is only 5-6" high and it even has the front spoiler to aid in its aerodynamics but it has changed my topspeed from ~120 to ~98. Pedal to the floor on flat ground I couldn't get above 100kmh lol. Took the basket off just to make sure it was the basket causing the slow speed and vroom vroom 120 no problem...basket back on 98 :(

no way! i thought that basket was cool! and i was thinking of some beacon lights on mine... guess i find out how to be more aerodynamic on the highways...

Got the shed in finally. 2 8x12' sheds. need to get rid of storage unit.. 120/m adds up!

    loaded OSB
    [IMG]

had to cut it at this cause the tire on the left rear was low.

finished it up with the trusses and the rest of the wood. Those tresses were hard to get off. they are all bundled!

Also I think my toolbox has to go. too much stuff getting under it.. i hope its not rusting.. guess i will use some hockey pucks next time and longer bolts. There was a quilt behind the seat for the winter time and when I pulled it out in the spring it was full of mouse fluff. I never did find any inside the truck until today. It was shoved between the tool box and the bed of the truck. they had quite a nest going on in there but they were all gone...

Couple quick things. First, I love your truck! I would kill to have a diesel.

Second, I'd put a roll-on bedliner in to stop any rusting issues and toughen the bed. They are cheap, easy and worth their weight in gold.

Finally, you've been doing a lot of jumping around on your oil. Make sure any oil you use is "C" rated and designed for compression ignition engines. You can't use oil designed for spark ignition.

RPM, thats why i use Diesel rated oils lol. I think im gonna stick with rotilla for summer and the 0w40 petrocanada for winter. worked great for me.

and yes, tool box will be coming out. gonna go over the whole truck clean clean clean it and get some of that paint on bed liner stuff. might also do the out side of the bed sides. they seem to collect so much dust it isnt funny. Also the rear fenders, the front half of the left side takes a licking from rocks on the gravel roads!

So i bit the bullet today. took them to my local Kal Tire to get re-done. they ship them to Total Wheel in White City, SK to get done. guy said they do quick and good service, balance, redo the rim and put a clear coat on it again. So it sounds like what i want.

Tried a couple local places but one was out of business and the other one i got to and they were blaring lound east indian music and not a soul around in the place so i left. So here's hoping I get some nice looking rims back!

yup. was using the foam brush to get all the winter and road gunk off her.. barely touched the thing and it fell on the ground... I actually swore loud enough the little old lady in the stall ahead of me gave me a stern starring..

so now i guess its a quest to fix that now... sigh...

    Woohoo the interwebs is mine!

Hope it is not too hard of a part to locate. I have come close to busting it off a number of times and sooner or later my luck will run out. I noticed a few rear window squirters on various SUVs/Vans that looked pretty similar in the junkyard...worst case (or fun case depending on point of view) maybe something could be modded to work.

Also I did some more roof basket testing yesterday. I removed the aerodynamic wing thing (that is supposed to aid airflow) and now it drives just fine. Crazy that a 6" wing/spoiler could have that much effect. Also interesting is that teh basket doesn't make much/any noise without the wing thing. On my Surf, the basket without the wing thing made horrible whistling and buzzing sounds on the highway. I'd like to see what a Liteace looks like in a wind tunnel.

well toyota canada says its a discontinued part, but there is none in any warehouses either... so i guess its off to the parts yard.. (also they wanted $79 for a new one..)

OUch $79 that would be hard to swallow even if it was in stock. Good luck hunting in the junkyard.

so no progress on finding a part but thats not the reason im posting

so the landfill that i operate the scale for has been closed for 2 and a half days due to some overweight idiot driving down the road 88k lbs overweight and wrecking the last passable road in and out..

So being i drive my liteace EVERYWHERE i have been constantly stopped and questioned by random people as to when it will be open again.. i guess there is no hiding when you drive something so unique lol.

I am showing these washer nozzles are still avail new in the $20 ball park.

Email me your chassis number and I will confirm.

Will take a bit to get from Japan, but hey, its there.

    Interesting Discovery of the Day

While underneath my Liteace today deleting the EGR system I made a bit of a discovery...

I always just assumed that the Toyota Liteace/Townace trucks were a unibody design like the Toyota LE/Townace Vans that they share a strong visual resemblance to. But that is not the case, they are body on frame. I Located two body mounts at the rear corners of the cab and two at the front corners.

This means that a simple block bodylift is at least a possibility on this vehicle now (manual trans column shifter might be a pain though?). Now to figure out what would be the simplest and cheapest way to gain 1-2" up front...a bodylift or having balljoint spacers fabbed up (+ longer shocks)...hmmmm :D.

OH REALLY??? I asked on the toyota van people forum and they said they are welded to the frame... i guess i should take a look under mine on monday.

my idea was to go up and out. lift and go ahead. then trim off from the wheel wells back and you could shove much larger tires in there!

well havent looked at my cab yet but after my round trip to regina on sunday my front transfer case seal is now leaking... *$#$@$* so i ordered one through toyota (yea i got dickhead again) and its on the way. $12 seal, probably 140 in labour to change it..

    Hello ,

What a great truck! I just picked up an 1989 with 95,000 km on it free from rust. It's not as in as good as shape as yours, but it runs great. The only thing I need to replace is the bed ( badly abused).

    Hi,

I believe it's fairly basic. Column 5 speed, non-turbo diesel ( 1974 cc 2.0L - 2C) , manual windows, am stereo, power steering etc.. Just love it.

    You still selling yours ?

What did you pay for yours ???

I'm looking at one here in BC .. 140K km on it .. 2.0L diesel. The guy wants 5 grand for it.

    Stuff99

What do you think? What are you selling yours for?

    Bioman, sounds like mine lol.

Timothose, "asking" price is 9k. but im sure if a serious offer came in it would go for less. I still havent done that transfer case seal.. plates ran out and its turned into a work bench in dad's shop... :( I got the seal, just gotta do it.
