I hear everyone talking about all this, and these trucks only go 25 miles an hour! So if no one is removing governors why would you bother with all this? Im starting to think there are two kinds of folks who participate in this forum. ones who are in it for money, and some who really enjoy helping and sharing info. I appreciate all the advice and help, but the politics of regulation is a little bit stuffy. Guess will have to figure things out on our own!!
I believe that in order for this trucks to be brought into the U.S. they have to be restircted to 25 mph . The dealers are not allowed to sell them without the restricters , but as a owner you can do what ever you want ... I've heard they'll do over 50 mph ! Hope that helps
a few minor mods and i think they'll go a little faster than 25. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ3hvAzjGQ4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26PYrJEvUCc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ERadrC4-Is
I bought mine from a private owner, and I can tell you for a fact that mine will do 70 +, that is all that I had the gall to do. I'm 6'5", so wrecking at that speed does not really appeal to me. As a matter of fact, mine still has a radar detector that was left in it from Japan!
hey, i once put nitrous on a Yugo. you can never have to much power! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_WTIBEKGAo&feature=related you can however have to much nitrous!
Hayabusa engine Or you could put a Hayabusa engine in like they did to this Smart Car http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV4HdsDZX6c That would get you to 25 in a hurry
I sold a 93 Carry that had 8500 Miles on it and I had it up too 85 MPH and it seemed stable to me but it didn't have a lift on it yet either. I have had my own 91 Carry to 70 with a lift and it's a bit more scary.
Hello I have a 94 Carry, Legal road plates,so I can insure this truck!one good reason to get plates!! I drove it on the road with 12'' and that makes the engine SCREAM. what did you expect? ever notice how many Japanese trucks are extra low geared? I used 13' Mazda car wheels and this brings the engine speed down to something that keeps you from thinking about rod bearings,so you can enjoy.Lets crack a myth( these trucks at road speeds in this country don't get 50mpg!) if you torque them hard mileage drops fast.of course .Lee
mini trucks maybe this will be the next big hot rod fad . pimped mini trucks on the cover of every mag?
Turbo Carry Has any body been around a stock carry that was equiped with a turbo. How much more nuts do they actually have. And is fuel economy comparable. I really want a turbo or blower. This is my next project!
i think you should start w/ standard performance parts.. build a header, try to eliminate as much emissions parts as possible, look at a better carb, maybe build a new intake manifold... look at doing some MSD ignition... all of these things will be nessesary to add forced induction, so they might be enough for what you need... BTW, i would throw fuel economy out the window...
what about carrys that come from the factory with turbo I saw some a while back on a dealers web page advertised with turbo. I understand or thought carrys are available from the factory with this option, and if so how much difference is there?
My 2000 Suzuki Carry topped out at 105 km/h with the stock 12" diameter wheels and the the stock paper element air filter. After replacing the stock air filter with a K & N unit that I modified slightly to fit the stock air box, I was able to get a 118 km/h top speed on level ground. I verfied this with a gps to be 73 mph. Not bad for a small 660cc motor with the brick like aerodynamics of the Carry.
Record? No way! I've done 130 KM/H in my Sambar on I-94 in St. Paul, drafting a tractor-trailer from a distance.
Sorry! Sorry Colin but that's not the record! I don't know exactly what it is but it's well past that! BLES
My 1995 Hijet has no speed limiting devices on it but I cannot drive fast because of the tractor tires with big fat rubber lugs. I may have to get some street tires just to have the experience of going more than 18 mph. Samurai
Will have to wind it out some day and check. I drove it 650 miles home on a 4-lane when I bought it... 75% of those at 120... cruising with the "supercharger" light not lit in the dash.?? I'd guess 140 on a calm day, better with a tailwind, drafting, etc. BUT, that's only guessing. BLES
I've seen an indicated 140kph in a SC Sambar. It was a bit floaty but not to bad. There are other supercharged models available. I have a 1989 Mitsubishi Minicab that arrived with a very stock looking supercharger installed. I'll see what it can do when we get it tuned up. There is another post about a Suzuki Carry with a supercharger that looks very similar to the unit on our Mitsubishi. Derek Bonsai Motors
