Can you put carlisle All Trails (23x8x12) on all four corners of a 98' carry without them rubbing? Are they 4 ply or 6? And another question. What is the difference between "axel lock" and "diff lock"?

The All Trails are 4 ply. More info HERE. They are rated to 1125lbs each. WAAAY more than most ATV tires.

I don't understand how 6 ply tires are weaker than 4 ply? can someone explain this to me. And do the 23 inch Carlisle All Trails (AT) fit on a stock 98' carry?

axel lock is the rear end... when unlocked only one wheel will spin ... in axel lock turns it to posi both wheels have power.... diff lock is for the front works the same way

I would presume that a 6 ply tire is going to be more durable than a 4 ply tire all other things being equal. It's just that the All Trails have a high load rating (and higher psi rating). Most ATV tires in this size are only rated to a few hundred pounds. The Carlisle 489 in this same size, for instance, is rated to 280lbs. Of course, that's a 3 ply tire and it's at 7psi. The All Trails, on the other hand, are rated to 22 psi.

Will the AT 23x8x12 fit on a stock 98 carry without rubbing or do I need to lift it?

    23x8x12 fit

Yes, they should fit fine. Some of the 489's are only 4 ply so be careful. You at the very least need to make sure they are 6 ply.

Yeah I just bought the Carlisle All Trails (23x8x12). They are 4 ply BUT they have a load rating almost 3 times that of other ATV tires. And they can be inflated up to 22 psi. The 489's are only a 7 or 8 psi tire. And some one hear said they are like driving on marshmellows.

    All trails

All trails are great, especially if you are going on hard surfaces. The only warning I would issue is to put some sort of wheel well moulding on because they are notorious for throwing rocks at your elbow, side, mirror, etc.

well I got my truck on All Trails now. The people that mounted them on the rim said that I shouldn't inflate over 20 psi b/c they tires are bent so much in order too fit into the stock rims. Basically the rims are like 7 inches wide and the tires are 8 so they are squeezed around the wheel making them bend at the center. But they look great and hopefully they will last fairly long. I we just put a fresh coat of white paint on her so she looks brand new. We are probably going to use vinyl graphics and spice it up. i'll post pics when i can.
