Moved across Ontario the other day. Managed to fit two sets of tires (one mounted), a large bicycle, and four months' worth of dishes/clothes/entertainment in the back. With the full load, winter tires, cold air, and winter gas, the fuel economy sucked on the drive home, but oh well. The van's now done what I bought it to do. How long I keep it is now up in the air...
Hi anthill, I didn't know that your van has permanently 4WD. In my van I can switch it on and off. But what is that type of "furniture" which can be seen on the picture of the rear of your car, I mean the box directly underneath the roof? Is the air conditioning in that box? Regards KleinerMuck
Ah, a manual pushbutton 4wd would be nice - having a viscous coupling is good for ease of driving, but bad for scrubbing the tires each time I do a U-turn. The low ceiling in the back is indeed the rear air conditioning. The compressor drives two coolant loops, one for the driver/passenger, and one for the rear. Haven't tested it yet, as the refrigerant pressure is low and the cost of leak testing/refilling it doesn't seem worthwhile yet.
That's a pretty good sized load Anthill, I can't wait for mine to arrive, hopefully before we get more snow!

Good question - I don't know what the max is! Definitely a bit less than the Sambar, since the Domingos engine already weighs more than the chassis was originally designed for. One report said the vehicle weight was: 980/1600 kg (equipped/full) So does that mean that the cargo capacity is 620kg / 1400lb?
620 kg would be nice, but no such luck . According to the service manual, the max capacity is : TRUCK 350kg, VAN 350kg, DIAS VAN 200kg. Your Domingo will most likely be 200kg. There should be a sticker, on the bottom right corner on your rear hatch, unless someone peeled it off.
Thanks for the info! One more confusion: is that 200kg plus driver & passengers? Must be. How many passengers? I drove the Domingo with three guys and three women packed inside (probably 420kg total passenger weight) and it handled OK... a little squirrely in the cross winds on the highway, but passable. I hope that wasn't a total abuse of the cargo capacity... otherwise what's the point of having 7 seats?
No problem. I'm with you on the assumption, that it 200kg plus passengers. It seems the trucks and regular vans use bias ply tires, while the Dias uses radial. My Dias van has two captain chairs in the back, and I also had it fully loaded with passengers and cargo, without any problems. Here is a pic of the capacity sticker, and if someone could translate it, it would be greatly appreciated
