I just bought my first mini truck last week and im already addicted to them. I built my cousin and myself rear bumpers this weekend and started on the front brushguard. Here are some pictures of the rear, let me know what ya think. Front pictures to come.
Very cool! Is that bumper attached to extensions straight down from the frame? And THEN 5 or 6 inch shackles?? If so, thats the same idea we are working on with my Honda. ( but less extreme ) We just finished fabbing up and welding the frame extensions yesterday. Gave about a 2.25 inch lift. Now we just gotta figure out how to attach the bumper. We were even going to inset the receiver like you did!
Nice job! I would love to find a local that could weld one up for me, I've got all the experience for the job but no fab gear.

looks good- where are you located? also interested to see what the front looks like when you're done. anybody thought about adding some tubes and mesh/plate from the rear bumper down under the fuel tank to protect it?
I think the fuel tank sits high enough you wouldn't have to worry about it getting damaged from underneath. Your rear diff is going to get slammed before the tank does and if your diff/axle gets destroyed you've got bigger problems.
looks goods, want to see what you come up with on a suzuki front end unitized body,i need a front bumper with winch mount and radiator guard. like them tires also.
I built a grill guard and a rear bumper for my suzuki mini truck very similar to yours in shop class last year. I don't have my pictures right now I will post back when i find them. I attached the rear one like yours and then i reinforced it by placing a tube through a hole in the frame and running a brace from there all the way back to the bumper. very sturdy. now i just have to worry about my tranny! lol
I would have pictures today but we got a nice weather system from the neighbors up north so im stuck in Bismarck cuz of the hundreds of cars that were stranded on the road that need to be towed. AAHHHHhhhhhhh!!!
pics These are the pics for the front grill guard as you can tell i wasn't trying to hard for cosmetic looks underneath these were all cameraphone pics the first pic doesn't have very good contrast I will try to post another second pic: pipe going through a hole in the frame holds it up and provides a sturdy place to brace from third pic: I went a little overboard and went heavy with my materials fifth: shows inside the wheel well and why I couldn't go with anything bigger without hitting the wheel.
new project i have a 99 Suzuki and just installed a 2.5" lift and new 24x11x12 tires and wheels. i cut back the front valance and trimed the back edge of the fenders to avoid rubbing. this thing will clime a sheet of glass now. next i want to build some front and back bumpers for it and was wondering how you guys were attaching them?
check out the last posts on the first page of this thread mine is a 94 or 95 not sure which so maybe it's different I was pleased with how my rear bumper turned out My front is so low tho. but it protects my undercarriage and is sturdy as hell im gonna go back and edit my post and give more details
