All the ones I had/have in stock have the 175/70/13 and I think one had 165s. What is everyone running? Looking to upgrade 1 or 2 sizes bigger. Maybe try a 175/80/13 or 185/80/13. We'll see.

The stock size is 155/80/R13, but those aren't very stylish. Good for winter tires though. 165/65/R14 fits well, though the only car using this size was the Honda Insight.

The limit is that any tire wider than 165 will poke out from the front wheel well and spray road grit onto the doors and side skirting.

I think the GV trim has the 155/80/R13 you mention on steel rims but the GV-R has bigger tires on aluminum rims. I am not at the shop right now so I can't check but will update. The concern I have is not spitting dirt but the inside of the tire rubbing.

Jason, I'm running the stock steel rims (13"x4.5" I believe) on my Domingo right now with 175/70/13 snow tires. There are no rubbing issues whatsoever with this size. I'll be changing out to an aftermarket 13"x5.5" aluminium rim with 185/70/13 tires I hope, but, I haven't verifed the fitting of those yet.

I guess it depends what rim backspacing you can find and how much poke you mind. With my 165/65/R14s on 14x5.5s with +45mm backspacing, I had about 5mm clearance between the tire and front suspension spring coil with the suspension fully extended. I reckon you'd gain a few mm as the suspension compressed to normal ride height, but fitting 185s sounds tricky and likely not worth it?

Well, I feel more comfortable with more rubber on the ground Anthony. I've got a set of 13"x5.5" aftermarket rims that have a +45mm backspacing a 70mm centrebore and I'm sure that a 175/70/13 tire will work with no issues, it's the 185's that I'm not sure of yet. I have to mount up a tire and see I guess ...

Hello, The stock tires on the GV trim with steel wheels is 155/80/13 as previously mentioned. On the GV-R trim with aluminum wheels I believe the tires should be 165/70/13.

I just installed 175/70/13 on a GV-R with aluminum wheels and it worked out fine. There is approx 3/8 inch clearance between the inside of the tire and front coil-over shock. There is no rubbing on the inside of the frame even with the wheel cranked. I think the 185 on a stock rim would be too wide as it would be virtually touching the coil-over. Also widths and heights vary slightly from brand-to-brand. However if it is an aftermarket rim with a + offset at least 5 to 10mm then it should be OK.

Say Jason, what's the difference between a GV Domingo and a GV-R Domingo?

Hello, GV-R is an appearance package, chrome bumper bars front and addition of rear bar,fog lights (yellow lense), chrome mirrors, rear roof spoiler, aluminum wheels, side rocker decal package, etc.

Well, I have all of that and mine says "GV-R" on the back. Well, it's all good I guess ...

Hi! I was wondering what your conclusions were on maximum tire dimensions for the factory Domingo. I am looking to install the biggest possible rim diameter and width with the smallest possible tire, without modifying the suspension or wheel arches, so I mean no scraping!

I got some 13" VW steel rims for my Libero. ET39, so I think they'll stick out a bit(cool).
Will most likely replace the original rims with these and use them in the winter. For summer use, I'll find some alloy rims.
The VW wheels I bought have the CB hole a tad too small to fit the hub. I will get a drill and machine them myself.
Question: Will it be a problem if I machine them a bit too large? Does it has to be a perfect fit on the hub or will the wheel center only on the bolts?

The wheel will mostly center on the bolts, but you'll probably get some shimmy without a solid center on the hub. No used Nissan rims in your neighborhood?

Yeah... well... there probably are. It was quite unfortunate with the VW rims that I bought. As soon as I bought them, lots of cooler sets popped out on the local market. Damn timing.....
I will look for Nissan alloys when the time comes. For now, I'll stick to the ones I got and try to get the van running. Damn thing doesn't want to cooperate at all.
