    Hi,
What aftermarket tires are there that are street legal? Im thinking more of a mud terrain style but not an ATV tire. Thanks

I went to buy new tires at a tire store I do a lot of business with. I have 145R12 on the back of my Suzuki and bald tires on the front. The owner told me that no one makes a 145 any more and I would have to go to 155. Not a problem, but the supplier only had 3 in stock. i should know more on Monday what brand they were and if I can get them. They are a DOT approvied Snow Tire.

I have to keep my truck narrow for the job I do with it, or I would go with an ATV tire

hmm interesting, ATV tires are for offroad use only right? Im sure they wouldn't offer very good traction on wet pavement becuase there not siped and there tread is so spaced apart. Thanks for the reply.

I'm afraid that the best I think you can do is something like the Winterforce tire. While the new generation of snow tires work MUCH better than the snow tires of 10-15 years ago on snow and ice, back then they had a more open, off-road like tread that would be better in mud and such. They just don't seem to make "truck tires" in sizes small enough for a kei truck.:(

Yeah firestone offers a tire very similar to that one. So is the only option to have a set for the road and a set of ATV tires for offroad? Well what size tires can you fit with a 3" lift? Super Swampers come in 27"...

I'm using 175/65-14 Semperit Winter-Grips. They're kinda knobby and have a lot of sipes in the tread. Probably work well for mud.

I've been thinking about the same two tires, BFG A/Ts used to come in this size as well. It would require a minimum 6" lift to clear these. I wonder how a minitruck will cope with the additional weight and circumfrence. Might have to start out in low range.

Any feedback from guys running 25" tires?

Here are the tires I went with. They are 5.70-12 Carlisle TRAC CHIEF. They will be in Wed and I will let you know how they look and preform.

So is that the DOT snow tire you mentioned earlier? They look like they would work if you can get them siped..might be a bit slippery other wise, but would still work.

    how much were they?

Those are not the DOT snow tires. The dealer could only get 3 and the 4th won't be in for a couple of weeks.

I have similar on my skid steer and they work fine in mud and snow. But I know that some times they fill up. They are only 5.7" wide and with the rotational speed of the mini being 10 times faster than the skid (5 mph vs. 50 mph), I think they will clean out ok.

Right now all I know is that they should look cool AND are 100% better than the bald front ones I have in it now.

    I will let you know.

Online they were $70, but I got them for $50 install.

A nice side shot of those tires on a green truck on page 2 of that site. I agree, those look more like a proper "truck" tire. Looks like a 14" rim for what it's worth.

Those are 13" made by Nippon tires. These trucks are coming from the Phillipines with those tires mounted. They are DOT rated but I havn't been able to track them down. :frustration:

These trucks are poor quality rebuilds that are chopped in half and shipped to the Phillipines where they are scabbed back together. Everything on it had a third world look to it. I'm very glad I checked them out in person before purchasing and I highly suggest anyone considering these trucks to do the same.

Is that right? Wow, they must've taken some extra care on the trucks in the pics, because they don't look too bad. You don't happen to have any pictures of the real deal, do you?

Maybe the flashy paint is just lipstick on a pig??

Look at the close-up shots of the exhaust stack on the bright green truck - seeing that was what made me begin to realize these guys weren't 100% top-notch. :D

These are the tires I just got installed. They are GREAT in the mud and snow, but are loud on the road at speed. I have them mounted on the stock rims.

Need more info on those tires....what brand, model, size, where'd you get them, what did they cost?

I can imagine they'd be noisy. Kind of a chunky tread block they have. I don't imagine they'fd do well on ice or a slippery sidehill.

What is the original application for them?

And as far as the exhaust stack on the lime green truck, it is poorly done. Kind of a redneck thing anyways doncha think?

    Hi Yardscape,

Can you post info on those tires? Where you got them, price, etc?

    Thanks,

    gbrad

Sorry about the lack of info. My truck is kept in town to plow with and I forget to write the info down between 5am and 11am when I'm plowing. I will get it soon. I gave $50 each installed from a local dealer.
