There are three minitruck dealers in the Oklahoma City area. One in Edmond, just north of the city ( http://www.swedishminitrucks.com/index.php ), one in Simenole, about fifty miles east of the city ( http://www.minitrucksbs.com ) and one in Goldsby, a few miles south of Norman. I think the one in Goldsby is a farmer who does this on the side. That's not very many dealers for a metro area that size, especially in the middle of a state where they've been legal on city streets and state highways for almost two years. But then they're probably more popular in rural areas where you can get around a lot more without encountering interstates and turnpikes. And they're is a lot more use for off-road application in rural areas.

As for as big government interference, I'm sure they would like to tell us they're not good for us for some reason and outlaw them at least on public roads. They've been telling us for years they can't be used on public roads because that's not the reason they're imported. But right now it looks like the bigger government-more regulations people in Washington have their hands full keeping their heads above water on much bigger issues.

It was a Tulsa state representative that pushed the law legalizing them on public roads through the state legislature. And I know there's a big dealer somewhere between Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

OK i've been reading through all these posts and as much as a mini channel would be a cool idea i think everyone is missing an even bigger opportunity here. The point has already been stated that there will not be enough to keep a channel running 24/7, and people would need to keep their vidoes exciting etc. You could have sponsors etc etc...... So to me this is screaming minitruck magazine. These trucks are growing in popularity so quickly and more and more aftermarket parts are popping up all the time. Its perfect for monthly issues with peoples rides, shows, offroad trail articles etc.

Am i the only one seeing this or am i crazy????

I would love to look into this further if people are interested

The Mini Truckin Channel would be hard put to keep on 24/7, just 12 shows per season wold be hard work. Yet, there is enough there to give that and more, it is just getting folks to make the vids and turn them in, or........we will have to get some photographers together and travel around and get them ourselves. All of which costs a lot more. As for the magazine, I and others have thought of that, and your right, it would be a great idea. Still pictures can tell a lot of stories, with the right writers, could go a long long way. As for advertisers, well, if the dealers, part suppliers, and others who are making all the aftermarket parts got together , the advertising would more than pay for itself. I am all for it, and if done together, what a gold mine for the trucks. Sounds like several (lots)of us need to get together, have a brain storming session, maybe even do a mini truck show, and start putting things together. Tennessee is nice this time of year, any one interested in a get together???? :pop:

    Hi,

I'm new here, John Williams from South Wales in UK, born shortly before WW2.
I have just bought a Daihatsu Hijet from Ebay, haven't got it home yet - or even seen it. Should be an interesting learning curve after my 50 year old Land Rover.

Er .... I usually sign as 602, which is the last three of my old RAF number. Its no less meaningful than anything else that AOL wanted to allocate me ..... and at least I can recognise my own mail. Its an age thing. You can call me whatever you like.

    Cheers!
    John Williams (hereafter 602)

New 4 wheel drive, quad cab Lil Pickup

In about 5 - 6 weeks we will have a significant inventory of new, larger cab 4 wheel drive quad cab mini trucks.
These are branded "Lil Pickup" and are EPA approved, NEW, not used, and loaded with features. Go to this link to learn more.

We need to continue to contact our legislators to get these permitted on Minnesota roads. The bill failed by only 7 votes at the end of this session. Several counties have their own permits at this time
I am interested in how much interest there is for these vehicles

Hey there, I'm on the front line of trying to get mini trucks street legal in Minnesota although I'm in Duluth, not down in your area. I have a first reading on the 28th of this month for an ordinance in my county to make them street legal, and after that I'm hoping to expand to the county North of me so I can use it to commute to work and back. I'll be sure to keep everyone here posted on the results of my efforts as things continue to move forward.

Can you post more info about your trucks, your pricing, your parts support etc? I've got a line on a couple trucks locally and a couple trucks abroad but it never hurts to explore every option...

keep me posted on your county progress. I believe the more counties that permit these the more pressure the state will feel and will soon want a piece of the pie. Our local legislator is very supportive, so it may help to contact yours as well.

If you know of a 4 wheel drive , new, steering on left mini truck that is actually for sale and in stock , I would be very interested to know about it. I have found that there just aren't any in stock that are new and meet the epa standards. Also finding that all are out of the same factory, DFM, carefully check out pricing prior to purchaseing.
we will be stocking parts along with the trucks. All due in here in July.

I know of no LHD new trucks other than Mid South Sokon and I'm not sure what his status is? I'm not really interested in new anyway since my budget is quite a bit more modest than that... I do have some info about other counties that have legalized them if you are interested I could e-mail it to you. My legislator is a very junior senator so he doesn't have a lot of pull... however I have personally e-mailed every single state senator and gotten responses from at least half of them so I'm pretty well versed in the politics surrounding them in MN.

Glad to hear about your involvement. I would indeed be interested in any info you have on the political front. I am familiar with the Sokon. I was actually signed to be the dist for them but have since found a different source for the same truck at a much lower cost and they actually have the trucks coming in. I will have inventory buy end of July. I have exclusive territory on these for Minnesota and will be looking for dealers. We will be very aggressive on pricing so you may want to check us out. The used mini can no longer be imported so the inventory that is here is it. Call if you want to discuss more.

  14. We've been bringing in containers of used trucks all year, I have 3 U42Ts going out tomorrow, and S110 of Friday and have two containers of used trucks on the way. We've been able to get a LOT of nice mid 90s dumps this year, so yes, used vehicles from 92-08 are still fully allowed.

    It's a great idea,

I work in the film n tv industry (camera technician) and I think every province in Canada agrees these are street legal if they pass a provincial safety test.

I know of at least 2 tv producers that could be solicited regarding this project and have done traveling shows like what you are all talking about. Right now we have a government funded new media incentive to develop programs for the internet....this sounds like something that could fit right in. Notably, I also happen to live in the province with the highest tax credit for film and television production.

I think you could create a number of segment type parts to a show and then repeat the format for further episodes (like many other car related shows).

Segment submissions could be of mixed media (some produced by traveling and shooting them) others submitted by the community.

    Show format and Segment Ideas
    Credits and introduction
Segment 01-DIY- always a good one
    10 second ad
Segment 02-Pimped ride- people love that before and after stuff (sponsored of course)
    10 second ad
Segment 03-What fits in my mini segment
    10 second ad
Segment 04-Sought after part mailbag segment -letter from the viewership (partial ad)

Credits....voice over telling viewers how to submit content with url to visit for text and photo versions of all the video segments.
    END

    You get the idea.

    Mini Trucks in action

Great idea ... whats the holdup?

I have a video posted of this truck in action sweeping rumble strips on I39 on another site. A video of a tracked mini going through a pipeline back-fill, pulling a groomer, and running in a large feedlot in TX is available. Soon a video of a scissor mini servicing 747's at O'hare and the Rockford UPS terminal.

Lets do it. I would love to show to the Gator/Kobota/Polaris crowd.

for the John DeLorean and Malcolm Bricklin entrepreneurs in the crowd..here is your gold mine, the mini truck. Make this baby street legal , next size up tires, left hand drive, a tweak or two, pay off a few writers to say nice nice about it....and you have a profit machine

I'm going in another direction. Not posting public details here as the main opposition is my e-stalker on this forum.

Ironraven, what made the ordnance fail? Sounded like there was good help from the local politician. The write up said that the trucks are mostly in the northwest, they should come to Tennessee, they are every where. Don't give up, good things could happen. As for the ugly, at least your not sneaking up on a glass of water just to get a drink...........lol. I have too. LOL

Lol, I have plans DannyM, like I said not posting publicly due to the scary dirty old man internet stalking me but I do have plans to continue. The ordinance failed because of supposed safety concerns. It was interesting to hear the Liberal councilors come out in support of the trucks due to it being my personal decision to drive it and that it wasn't going to put anyone else's life in danger whereas the "conservative" councilors came out in opposition citing the Duluth PD's concerns with safety which the Deputy Chief said were mainly that he didn't want to expose first responders to a frontal collision of a mini truck and another vehicle. Never mind that there are hundreds of motorcycles on Duluth streets every day and that Duluth City workers drive UTV's like Gators and golf carts all over every day... so I guess the City doesn't give a **** about their employees?
