Has anybody replaced the large bushing on their suzuki's? I have a shimmy at about 75 - 80 km, and have seen the control arm bushing move when somebody just moves the wheel a bit. Seams to be in the bushing. Has anybody been able to cross or find a bushing? Thanks!
Shimmy If you are talking about the steering wheel bushing at the bottom, most people that have 4x4 usually swap it out with a bearing. If this is what you are referring too, I will get you the number of the bearing and all other info. I'm planning to change mine out this next week.
Possibly. If thats the problem. New bushings do the job though. easy to replace. While under the truck, grab that knuckle and check it for play. If any play at all, then change it. It is a common issue as the trucks get older. We have rubber in stock and Poly Urethane in development. If the cost of the PU is not too bad, then we will switch. But a new rubber one will do wonders if yours is bad.
Right in the center of the truck where all the steering bits come together. There is a shaft with a knuckle/arm there. It is a 3 prong. The bushing is in the center prong it goes up to the shaft. The other 2 have the inner tie rod ends attached to it. This center bushing is usually a problem.

Needs to be pressed out... Changed the bush in my Carry a few months back. Easy enough job if you have a press.
Thanks Dave. was told I could replace bushing from under truck.found out the hard way can't be done. got bushing changed and YES you do need a press.
Easy way to see if bushing is bad. Raise the truck move the drivers side front wheel side to side while looking at the main steering bushing. You will see the slop if there is any. I recently found this on one of my trucks.
Is there a trick to getting the crank off the threaded post it sits on? I removed the castle nut, but the assembly wont drop down. Prying on it with a prybar didnt seem to help either. ---Edit: Yes there is, use a long gear puller. The 7 ton at Oreilly's fit. Use it as a 2 jaw puller not a 3 jaw.
