Hey all, Who here has a lifted mini-truck? Out of that group, I wonder how many of you drive your lifted mini-truck on the roads. I am curious how much a lift (body or suspension) affects the aerodynamics/fuel economy of these little boxy trucks. ~Josh
aerodynamics??? I have a 2" lift on mine and drive it every day, these trucks are as aerodynamic as a brick towing an egg carton so a little taller has not hurt much IMO
I'm getting 45mpg(UK Gallon), only thing not so good is cross winds when on exposed roads or when overtaken by Trucks and Buses - on our motorways (Interstate for you guys) BTW I run std wheels and tyres Easy to get the tyres - same size as the old Mini Coopers.
mileage I think I'm getting around 25-30mpg. Can travel around town for a week and a half before needing a fill.... Could do the same with my last daily driver (84 chev suburban) but the price dif on filling a tank is HUGE. $27 vs $200+. Don't really care if its only getting 25, still better than 8mpg!!!!
My 2005 Daihatsu topped out at 100-105 kph with the stock lift and tires. With 2" lift and Carlisle 23's it tops out at 80 kph which is about 85-90 kph when corrected for difference in tire diameter. Big difference, and I suspect it is most the tires, but partly the lift as well. Not sure about fuel economy, but I sure these numbers would diminish in a similar fashion. I am thinking of switching to a 14" wheel with snow tires on it to improve things a little.
