Just wondering if you can post the pages on why the engine check light would come on , I have a samber and engine check light is always on when ever i start the vehicle but i don't really seem to have a problem with the vehicle it seems to be working in fine to me expect that i found the air filter with a lot of oil on it but i also only owned the vehicle for two days and it has been used already. so what i am really asking is if you can just post the pages about the engine check light and why it would be on all the time
Unfortunately my manual has disappeared, still have my old Honda Acty one but the Sambar one, and some other tech manuals for work are missing.About $500 worth of stuff.:frustration:
There are two indicators, one in english says "Check engine" and the other looks like an exhaust overheat picture. Bothe are emission related. You did not metion if the engine was supercharged and that is a different story. Generally if the "Check engine" light is on and the other light is not means your engine is running too rich. If the engine is too lean both lights will come on. Oil on the airfilter is normall for Subaru and nothing to worry about. Br, Don
Ok, you say the other light what is the other light, and if my engine running too lean how can i change that, I don't think the engine supercharged and if it was how would i know, I know how a supercharger looks on cars is it the same and where would it be on this engine. Why does the air filter have oil on these engines
Hello, the other light is the exhaust temp sensor. On the Subaru its a warning light at the bottom right of the instrument panel. It activates when the engine is to lean. Since you dont know whether or not your engine is supercharged or not your better off taking it to a mechanic to work on it for you or buy the maintenance manual. Its not wise to adjust anything on these engines without understanding the details or having a reference manual. Br, Don
any one have a diagram of vacuum lines, any one finding air filter soaked with fuel , and what u did to correct the problem
Looking for manual for 1200cc Sambar I am importing a 1200cc Sambar VW replica from Japan into the UK. Reading this forum, it seems that most of you seem quite adept or at least willing to have a go at maintaining your vehicles. But I just want to drive it! I therefore need to find a garage/mechanic to maintain it for me (in Kent/London), and he most probably won't be familiar with the vehicle as there are so few of them in the UK. So I'm also looking for a maintenance manual. I've seen that the Japanese manual is available in English translation, but does that cover the 1200cc version, or only the 660cc? Be gentle with your replies ie not too technical please! Thanks in advance.
Wendy, I looked back in the thread; on the 6th post there is a link posted for the manual. On the link is a place where you can preview part of the manual; it appears the manual is for the 660 only. did not see anything regarding a 1200; but I may be wrong.
novice mechanic needs lots of help! Thanks - that still leaves me the question of whether there is an English translation anywhere for the 1200cc? Maybe a manual for the Domingo which I guess has the same 1200cc engine? On a more general note, what is the maintenacne sked for these beautiful vehicles? ie how often to change oil, whatelse to do regualrly etc. Any info appreciated as it might be that I have to learn to look after it myself!
