Ive have my Jumbo forsale . I had a guy wanting to buy on the web but it didnt happen so it went out front of home again (alot of hunters and farmers around)
Had someone drive it and liked it he drove it around and we (I told him where to go and hit a stump that I forgot about in the dark ) damaged the gas tank :frustration:, Not repairable Tried all the suspects here and found one local but didn't fit as it was out of a newer truck. No one would ship a used one . I find a ratty (rusty)one local and send both to be looked at by these guys http://www.gas-tank.com/ and put something together for me . I got it back and its a work of art. I get into where I can work on it (raining muddy and by myself). pop tank in fill it up and off we go again, right?, not really wont start .
Off comes the motor cover and I start looking around . Spark ,yes , loosen the fuel line where it goes into the carb and crank, got gas, Try to flood it but no gas smell shoot a little carb cleaner in the air horn and it starts but dies . Great I think the gas that sat in the bowl while the tank was out gunked up the carb :frustration:
So much for having it on the market again till I can clean the carb out :(

All I want to do is just sell this thing but nothing like hitting every :frustration: every step forward seems like 2 steps back

sorry just need to vent some

Try some Seafoam in the fuel.....put a strong dose directly into the carb, if you can, along with some in the tank. It's good stuff.

I've had gas sit in things for a year, and still start up. More likely, it's dirt.

Good luck, hope it gets easier for ya'.

I changed the fuel filter a couple of months ago (about 2weeks before I pulled the tank)and it was running great up to the tank problem .
I'll end up pulling the top off the carb and taking some cleaner to it . If it gunked bad I'll just pull it off all the way and go to town on it .
Im to the point I just want it gone as I had alot of interest when it was forsale before but with all the banking fun thats just happened what money that was left out there is now being held onto even tighter :(

That Seafoam is some great stuff. My truck had sit at least 7 months before I bought it and didn't idle very well. It would idle high then low then high then lower til it would finally starve for gas and cut off. You could smell the old gas. I bought some Seafoam at a local autoparts store and added about 1/2 can to a full tank of gas. After about 3/4's of a tank of gas the idle problem is now gone.

Todd, your gas tank problem started about 6 weeks ago. I can't imagine gas going bad and gunking up in that short period of time. Is there a filter at the carb, like the old QuadraJets. At least you know that the gas is getting to the engine, it is just not getting through the carb. Apparently you have sucked up a piece of trash, but how did it get passed your new filter.

The gas that was in it was getting old (hadn't put anything in since spring). When I put the tank back in what was coming out of the lines while messing with them smelled a little funky . Open system up to air, let it do its thing to what was left = fun for me
I'll get it ,just was hoping to have it done before I went away this week .

I understand the loss of interest after this whole Bailout thing.

We're getting screwed from so many directions, it's ridiculous!

God bless what's left of the U.S.A. :frustration:

    update

I got back from going away a few days . I woke up and went at the carb. I got it off and took it apart to find that the "o" ring on the main solenoid was shot and coming apart and the accelerator pump was gummed up . Cleaned everything out put it back on and now its purring again . Now I hope I can sell it before I need to do something else to it
