my mini truck is my hobby

i usually am building a rat rod, low rider or chopper to occupy my time, but this time i chose to play with a mini truck. and not to sound too whipped here but i've only been married less than a year so i STILL like hanging out with my wife... no, she's not looking over my shoulder (she told me to say that... j/k)

My main hobby is cycling (not with motors). Road and Mountain. Which is also more or less what I do for work.

Next is working on the house/property...which seems to never be done.

Then, as soon as the soybeans come off the lower field, let the games begin!

My favorite hobbies are Mountain Biking on the New River Trail in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and Water Skiing on Lake Tillery NC. I also enjoy working in the yard and garden. Gotta love this southern weather.

Fooling around with my early Chevy van, I have had one since 1970. This one went 12 feet under ater during Katrina. I have since restored it again from the ground up. Inside is completed, just a little more work on the outside.

    Hobby for the lunatic fringe

Unfortunately, I have succumbed to the fatal illness commonly known "Fiat Freak". I have restored a number of 500's, 850's and X's, currently own (All restored) the following: Autobianchi Bianchina, Fiat 126, Fiat 850 Spider, Dallara X1/9 Rally, in addition to an oddball Isetta and a Datsun 2000. Waiting in the barn is a Fiat Dino Coupe and a Fiat Abarth 1300/124 coupe for their turn at making me miserable. But, they keep me out of trouble and don't yell at me when I fail to wipe my shoes before trudging in a load of mud into the kitchen.

my dad had the same affliction... he bought a brand new fiat 850 sedan in 71 (they brought me home from the hospital in it) that little car went cross country 3 or 4 times, and had about 200k miles on it when he got rid of it in 85 or so. and then had a couple of fiat 1500 cabrios pretty rare in these parts. i remember him beating his head on the wall looking for a head gasket :frustration: and i had a fiat 128A sedan... same motor as an X19 but front wheel drive.

We do quite a bit of camping (live close to the Rockies), play hockey year round (ice hockey to our US friends), woodworking, and lots of road cycling. Next big project is gonna be building a 17'-6" cedar strip canoe. Mould made and waiting. Wanna use the Carry to get the canoe to the back lakes.

Like to hunt, play golf, and also do a little woodworking. Just realized that I have too many hobbies for the number of hours in a day. Would love to find one and spend the majority of my time on it, but the three allow me an escape from each one at certain times.

There is a lot more roller and ball hockey played in the warmer States than here. Hockey in Canada and more specifically on the prairies is an obsession. Kinda like the Kei trucks. An obsession that turns into a hobby....

    My Hobbies

I love to work on vehicles for fun, I have had almost 150 different cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, semis and off road vehicles:D. Just finished the last project, a 1978 Honda Hawk converted to full electric. Top speed 80 kph for 40 km, great for in city at a cost of $0.25 a day to charge.
I have also done continuous renovations on the house.
I use to ice race about 10 years ago, mud bogg the last 4 and mud drag last 2 years (www.cmro.net see the gallery for Steves Toy and Danish Dragon, my sponsor). I raced Steves Toy last year to first place in Modified class and helped as crew chief and mechanic for the Danish Dragon. Great fun!

You'd better pluck them off those trees before that goddamned HR1022 progresses any further... :frustration:

    My hobbies:

Merkur XR4Ti - I've got a fairly heavily modified '85 model, which I drive out to Carlisle, PA every June for the All-Ford Nationals. I don't really care about the show - it's just a big Merkur party and meet. :)

Honda Ruckus - I picked up an '08 Ruckus in June, then found myself getting pretty heavily involved (addicted? :sly:) with totalruckus.com and advrider.com. I've got a bunch of engine parts on order right now... I'm scrapping the 50cc setup and putting in a 187cc GY6 engine with a 4 valve head. 80 MPH or bust! :D

Guns - I like to shoot, especially the AR15. Ammo is too damned expensive. :frustration:

    And this thread lives on!

I was wondering what other hobbies you fellas had and came across this thread. I see alot of yall are into the mini trucks as a hobby. Mine is more of just a DD than a hobby. But my hobbies include (in order of how much time/money i spend on them):

4 wheelers- The big slow kind that go through deep mud holes. Been doing this since i was little and i still love it

Hunting/Fishing- What redneck doesn't love to hunt and fish?? Just recently got into bow fishing and hand grabbing, and love them both. Duck hunting is my absolute passion.

Guns- Just now getting old enough to buy them on my own. Recently have gotten a Springfield XD .40, and Savage .17HMR, and a NAA .22 mag like the one colin has. And my prized gun is a pre '64 model 94 Winchester 30-30. My grandfather gave it to me the night before hurricane Katrina hit. His home was destroyed that night, so had he not given it to me then, it would have been ruined or lost..

Fast cars/Big trucks- Or some combination of the two. This is how i ended up with a 4 inch lifted 4x4 s-10 with a 350 under the hood. I'd really like to have an old hot rod one day, but right now i just help my dad with his vette.

I'm just getting into geo-caching, I needed a new hobby and wanted to spend a bit more time outside in my mini... so I figured I'd take the summer and explore my new province a little better :)

I am into guns (being from Tennessee) four wheeling, wood working, and up until last year built and rode 1/8 scale model trains. I still build old style box cars and flat cars for folks, just dont have time to go to the railroad club and ride anymore. As for the guns, my oldest is a 1952 model Spanish made 9mm that was made for the German army. Dad had picked it up somewhere and I have had it for years, he died 40 years ago. It still shoots like a dream. The mini truck though, is something that I would love to get into, if not for working on this mini farm and trying to support the family. The mini's are all over the plateau now.:)

Sick truck! I love the elephant on the faring too that's awesome.

  26. both the elephant and the lions head are actually sculpted out of fiberglass along with a set of claws on the tops of the bags. the owner( who has deep pockets) went on a big game hunt in africa and when he came back he wanted to build a bike to commemorate the trip so he went and bought a bagger and dropped it off with us....ive been working on that truck for just over a year and a half... also doing a 73 amx that ive been on and off for 3 years along with tons of other fun stuff.

I have been building and restoring, and showing muscle cars for the last 40 years, about 25 years ago, I picked up my first AMX, and since then I have had 19 all together, and as many as 9 at one time with 7 running, and all of them in different colors, I had a large collection of cars before I was transferred, I work for the government, and they don't move your car collection, so I had to sell 7 AMX's, 3 GTO's 2 Firebirds, a 68 comaro, and a 67 Mustang convertible, I kept the cars that were the hardest to replace, so I kept 2 AMX's, a Trans Am Javelin, and my 66 AC Cobra, I'm getting ready to retire in a week from now, and I have my shop finished with the car hoist installed, and I'm going to go back into restoring and building muscle cars and
Hot rods, and the occasional motorcycle.
