I guess we could call this a semi write up cuz I might not have taken all the pics that I should but here it goes anyways. After riding my hijet for a couple of months now I found that the seats were 'ok' for a while but longer trips, not so great. I believe it was fupabox that mentioned putting some Toyota Paseo bucket seats in his Hijet. I couldn't find any here to test out but I was offered some bucket seats out of a 2011 Hyundai Accent for cheap, what can I say. It turns out that I could use the accent bottom foam on the hijet bottom frame without any mods, fits good enough. The back side was a different story but, after some measuring, it turned out that I could use the accent back frame with the hijet recliner mechanism welded to the accent. All in all I spent maybe half a day figuring out the first seat and it took me about 2 hrs for the drivers seat. It ends up working like the stock seat but alot more 'comfy' in it. I've been riding my truck for 2 days now and I am throwing away the old seats for good, should have done this months ago. Best mod ever for my truck so far. Here are some pics.
Nice Job, I think if you make the pics smaller, they won't be turned sideways! Heading to the Chiropractor for an adjustment!lol! Again, Good Work! Limestone
Does anyone know what seats will work without so much modifying ,or needing a welder,or special skills ?
Go to your local junk yard and look for 40/20/40 rear seat out of an 2002 ford explorer and use the two 40’s. I opted for the leather, easier to clean. Paid like $65 bucks for the whole seat. your passenger side will be come your drivers side and vise versus. I tried some Hyundai Sonota seats like a someone posted and they sat up to high. No weld, just some good knowledge off Farbercation. The first picture is at the junk yard.”Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition” The second pic is installed. I screwed up on the “passenger seat” aka the drivers seat. I cut too much foam out of it. Had to go buy another seat. Take your time.
You will have to unbolt, cut and grind the seats as you take them a part. You will also have to use your old lower and upper seat frame that covers the engine to fabricate to the new seat. Also take the seat cover off the new seat to cut the foam on the lower and upper foam. There is no just buy and bolt in seats available. Message me if you need more details or help.
So where did you find those ? You find them local or did you go on line? Oh,and is there a particular fork lift seat that works,or would you think they might ALL fit? Shoot you wouldn't know if the ALL would fit. How dumb of me.
