Got my seats done. I have a friend who does upholstery. The headliner and door cards are up next.

Fabbed and installed custom bumper and mounts. 2" square tubing and 1/4" plate. But to say I did it "today" would be a whopper. This took a lot longer than I'm willing to admit 20220312_125253.jpg

I am waiting for a head gasket to show up, so I decided to strip, sandblast, and powder coat the valve cover and oil pan. I did the oil pan in a gloss black and the valve cover in a wrinkle red. Should look good once it's all together.

That wrinkle red looks really good! - Kind of like a mini "Testa Rossa".

    JMM:
Regards the QA1 springs, when you say they were a great improvement, do you mean in ride quality, or load carrying?

Made a new tool to hold the camshaft so I could torque the pulley bolt down:

@Arty, so far it's the ride quality. Property is still too wet to do any real work on the trails, but my assumption after a few test drives is that the truck will better handle what I throw at it. I may end up looking for helper springs for the rear, too.

Do you have a part # for them, or onfo as to where you bought them?

Finally got front bumper installed. Took some time to make the mounting brackets but found good spots to mount supports to the frame. It's solid. Should have taken photos of install but may get some more pics loaded later.

Added more lights because you can't ever have enough lights. Wire them this weekend. The 265lb springs ended up being perfect for the addition of the 80 lb. bumper and two American sized adults.

Gave the truck a better wash today. Got almost 30 years of farm grime out of a lot of the interior. Need a few odd things to get into it deeper, but it's a fair shake better than it was. ;)

Got some parts in today, so I changed out the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Also checked the timing, dead on! Was concerned about it running a bit rough, and found one spark plug was mismatched and not gapped correctly. Swapping out for new bits got the Sambar happy again. Also put in half a can of Sea Foam in the tank before filling up.

Went four wheeling at Windrock Park. And didn't tear it up!

Productive day on the Sambar. Changed out gear oil front and rear, oil change w/ new filter, new air filter (that fits), new rear shocks, tachometer install, fuel filter, cleaned out the air box and intake tube, cleaned the choke, and adjusted the idle.

Idle was way low at 500, brought it up to 800. Oil was not great, might have been the first or second ever oil change at ~7600 miles. Front and rear diff oil looked great.

I'm one pulley holder away from doing the timing belt/water pump/coolant flush, and I've got a rich condition to sort out. Getting there!

Installed keyless entry and connected it to the lights and horn so the lights flash and the horn honks when I lock or unlock. I installed a power window kit last week and that is working nice. Next week will be a 2 din touch screen with a backup camera and that should do it for now unless I can find power outside mirrors.

Yesterday I got my truck all put back together after the fresh paint job and took it for a drive.

I had Maaco spray it and do the bed liner for me. I sanded the truck down first and I painted all the plastics and took box with raptor liner.

    Looks like a new truck!

I installed a touch screen audio with a backup camera that works when I put it in reverse. Installed a power window kit, a keyless entry kit and now this. What else is there?

Love the fogs and halo lights! What a sharp looking truck. Mine just got finished at Maaco, just didn’t have time to pick it up yet.

I got my headache rack powder coated in gloss black to match my rims.

Seattle Powdercoat if you're local. They did a great job and also sandblasted some old metal Safe-T-Stack drawers (wrapped in paper) that I'm going to paint and use in a workbench I'm building.
