Right?! Makes no sense. I’m gonna pull the motor, and replace. When I get it out I’ll pull the head to see what’s going on.
Many years ago, I ran across much the same problem with a friends Fiat. After much digging, I found it had been overheated (probably quite a bit more than admitted) and I found that the valve guides had moved down in the aluminum head far enough to stop the valves from totally seating. Fred
Valves were toast. Sucked into head. Replaced and lapped in new valves… she ran!!! For a few months then the “presumed dusted motors rings gave out finally. So I will be replacing the motor with a rebuilt I just got in a recent purchase.
I actually found a rebuilt motor for sale on Craigslist!!! Freakin crazy. So I bought it…. Along with a second complete motor…. And three more 1994 hijets hahaha I now own 4, that’s officially a fleet I believe lol. I pulled my motor, and replaced with the rebuilt motor, also did the clutch at the same time. And it runs great!!! I’ve now started a crew cab build and matching trailer. I’ll have to start another build thread for that.
Ya it was a great find. One truck I bought was rolled, so I chopped it up. That’s what I built my trailer and crew cab out of. And the other two trucks need motor rebuilds and they’ll be good. Both in very good shape…. Dirty, but straight lol
