Those tyres look amazing! What is their spec? As you've had the truck in the shop for a while, do you happen to have replaced the fluids? I'm still looking for a reliable table of what fluids and volumes I need for my HiJet 99 EF. If you have them to hand I'd be hugely grateful!
Tires are 23/8/12 Carlisle All Trails https://www.carlislebrandtires.com/our-products/product-detail/all-trail/ I found capacities all on the forum and found a pdf for 1989 to 1998 Service Manual ,which won't help you but other years may be listed on the forum.
If you want the rubber cushions that go on the rear and the side that the tail gates rest against when down, go here. https://jpnautoimport.com/vehicle-a...daihatsu-hijet-genuine-gate-cushion-left-side He has the tail gate chains also.
I have all of my rubbers (lol). However I did scrub off the driver’s side during shipping…my bad. I never had the chains so I’ll definitely grab those, THANKS!
The tires look amazing! Thanks for your reply - I'm still searching the site for non-contradictory info on fluids, but I have the service manual ordered, which should sort that out. Enjoy the build and driving that beast!
That's cool. Thought about racing, talked about racing, but never have done it. I live near Knoxville and do go up and drive the dragon a couple times a year. Very cool! Talked about track days, thought about tracks days......... but have never done track days! I live outside of Knoxville and I do go up and run the Dragon several times a year. In all vehicles!!
Very nice! Your truck is quite similar to mine. Mine is 4wd with no ac. Other than that same year, very close to the same condition and mileage. I look forward to seeing what you do with it. Gives me some good ideas.
Great looking truck CVP33! Very similar to mine with similar mileage. Mine has a little more rust in the bed hinges than yours does. I really like all the changes you made so far. 1) What paint did you use for the black trim pieces around the headlights, etc.? 2) have you installed a lift kit yet? This is a general question for the community, but when you installed a lift kit on a HiJet, were there any other parts you looked to replace at the same time? And are the lift kits very difficult to install? Thanks! Ken
1) Trim = Krylon black lacquer with self etching primer 2) No lift for me as I’m 2WD. I am adding 300# springs that should give me all the clearance I need up front.
I put a 1.5" lift on my '95 S110p, I didn't time myself but it was probably an hour to hour and a half. It was pretty easy, but I was using a lift. The only slightly troublesome place was the passenger side strut spacer, there isn't much room to get it stuffed up in there. I was able to use the wheel for leverage, and pull the strut assembly down just enough to push it into place. As far as replacing things go, I would check CV axle boots, tie rod ends, ect. But you don't have to replace it all at the same time, you really aren't taking anything off to install the lift kit beyond dropping the front struts down and(on the rear) removing the leaf spring shackles. So you wouldn't really be saving any time to do it all at once.
Also, depending on how big the tires you run are, you might have to trim some metal off of the doors. I have 23" tires, and I'll have to trim mine up a little bit as they do rub, but it's not bad enough that I'll have to do it immediately, or frankly, would have to do it at all.
washer fluid reservoir is right next to the 710 and the radiator overflow reservoir under the left seat.
Get yourself one of these. Saved my butt so many times. https://smile.amazon.com/OTC-6007-Lower-Control-Prying/dp/B000R5BLW4
Instead of cutting things you might want to invest $60 in a fender rolling tool. You can find them on Amazon or eBay.
