Congratulations and welcome. Post pictures, and keep us informed as things go on. There a prett good epth of knowledge here, so as you have questions, ask.
Welcome from the NW. That's a pretty clean and tight model and you're all set from some action. Way to go.
I love my old school Honda Big Red ATC. I replaced the springs with progressive rate springs that might add 1.5'' of lift
Do you have picture of your strutt assembly, i put some progressive rate springs that were suppose to add lift and after I took off the old off which had this metal piece above it which the guy i bought the new springs from said to ditch all of that stuff
The guy I had bought from said this was the first time he had seen a stock spring with the metal spacer on there...like he thought it had a lift from factory, said normally you only have that plastic sleeve, the rubber piece and 3 bolt top piece
Mine looked like that and all I left out was the plastic sleeve inside the spring because it wouldn’t fit in the new springs. I used the rubber grommets and washer and spring seat.
Thank you, i kept saying mine looked lower after i bought the fancy springs and took all that stuff out, how in the world did you get the spring compressed enough to get it to the strut? The spring compressor I had was way too big, and otherwise i had vise grips which were a joke
Put jack stands under the truck, and then put a floor jack under the strut. Loosen the single nut at the strut. Lower the strut and pull the top out towards you to remove the spring. Leave the jack under it to keep the weight off the brake hose. Just lower enough to clear fender. I left out the plastic part that goes inside of the spring as I mentioned. Here is the trick. Getting the strut shaft back up in the hole is a bi&ch by yourself, you need someone else to pump the jack while you guide the shaft back up through the hole. I did it myself but there was a lot of cussing involved. Mine is a 1997 model others are probably different.
Thank you! I will try that this weekend...i think i ordered the same suspension package as you, my rear air shocks were so much wider that i could not get a washer on the inside of shock, i also had to flip the nut over backwards so that i could even get a little bit of a bite
Also what do you run psi wise...i had it at 100 but it sat up about 3-4 inches higher than the front and the driveshaft would hit that bracket that hangs below it you can see in the far left corner of the picture.
Yea I did it myself trying to hold the strut shaft with one hand and pump the jack with the other. Did you have to take a dremel or something to the inside of your spring to get it to seat down on the bottom of the strut. Mine clunks everytime I go over a bump and it has been driving me crazy.
I didn’t need grinding on my springs. I removed a plastic collar from the top of the spring and I was worried about some noise but so far nothing. What year is your truck? Are your struts in good shape?
