Brand comparison

I remember reading long ago somewhere a comparison between the brands, such as interior knee room, and which brand could take bigger tires without lifting, and so on. I can’t find anything through the search function. It seems that Suzuki and Daihatsu are the most talked about on this forum. Are they the best brands or just more popular? And if so Why? Is there a brand that is easier/better to lift.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Suzuki and Daihatsu are just the most common brands of Kei trucks in Japan. Since there are far more of them than any other, they are exported more frequently, and as such more of them end up here.

For every Sambar or Acty I saw in Japan.. I saw probably 10 HiJets and 10 Carrys

talked to the local Honda truck dealer here in Japan about a new truck and brochures, they told me that next year Honda will stop selling/producing Mini trucks. Also found the info in the net: In 2021, Honda will stop producing the might Acty as new regulations are making it very hard for the company to turn a profit on these pint-sized workhorses. Maybe a good chance to buy one of the last production year. But not many available anymore. Asked for a quote for a SDX in standard silver colour, only 4 left, delivery in 02/2021, white ones are less than 100 as of today. My 1997 built Acty Truck has now abt 68000 km on the clock, still goes strong, but maybe I sell it to a dealer for export. Bought it 10 years ago with 12.000 km only.
