Has anyone had any issues with the lever on transfer case where the 4x4 cable attaches to where the lever is stuck ? I can push the shifter but won't move, took off cover near actuator lever on transfer case everything looks good, but stuck, can't move even with a vice grips on it !

Not sure if I under stand what your problem is. Is it the cable or something in the T case. If you take the cable off the T case and the cable moves freely then its in the T case. If it has always been this way since you got it someone may of had it apart before and did not reassemble it properly (trust me there is a way to do it and it will be stuck in 2wd). If you think this is the case you can remove the cove on the end of the T-case close to the drive shaft and see what it looks like and if you have a book you can look and see if it looks right or not. If I remember right it will not go in upside down but you can put the wrong end towards the front if that makes since. But if this is something that just stated happening this is not the problem.

I bought it like this, the cable was broken so I bought a new cable and it won't move, so I removed the cable and now figure put a channel locks on the lever and it does not move, tooth small cover off in back so it exposes where the lever attaches inside, everything looks good so far not dry, not locked, its like something is just jammed, both shafted turn freely, but yes its stuck in 2 wd. G&R told me remove the screw in there and see whats up,here is a pic.

Can you get a picture of the other side of the case. If you look at the part that slides you can see the two raised parts on it near the end of it. This should be the part that the sensor reads off of to determine the position that the t case is in and it should line up with a sensor in the t case so im thinking yours may be in backwards. If nothing else I will try and take my rear cover off this weekend and check it to make sure. If you want to try and spin it around take that plug out and remove the detent ball then the piece should slide off the shaft. May need a small magnet to remove the ball and sometimes it can be tricky to get out. I am by far no professional and only had my T-case split a couple times to install new seals and a speed pickup gear so bear with me if this does not work.

Is there a sensor in the cover you pulled off? Sitting hear at my desk trying to remember and I cant recall. If there is and it lines up with those two cogs on the end of the piece that's suppose to slide than it should be in right.

JDT4430, its been a while but your dead on, it was in backwards, I don't know how they drove it like that, especially off road or in snow, all fixed now, though a little notchy and stiff, I filled it with synthetic, hopefully that helps, and hope that helps anyone else having issues

I know this was long ago. But I am having the same problem. My 4wd lever will not move up or down and I am stuck in 4wd High all the time. Any suggestions?
