I cant get my heater to work on any position of the heat controls. It only blows cool air. The temp control wire goes down under the dash and appears to be connected. anyone know where the valve is that lets the hot water go to the heater core ? 1993 subaru sambar. Thanks Dennis
carb or EFI? can you hear the valve in the dash moving when you switch from cold air to hot air setting?
The valve moving was what was wrong with my Sambar (1996). Cable was moving but the lever was not. After lubricating the plastic lever it works good now.
How olds the thermostat? Next step id say is replace the thermostat and blast out the heatercore with some hot pressurised water
Hi all what happened in the end, did you get it going. I am struggling with no blower at all but the air con fan fires up but no blowing any help !!
Curious on this too. Can't get heat. Thermostat works. Control cable works. Hard to see the actual control valve because this is a TT2 with A/C. I pull the heater shroud on the passenger side and there is another shroud over the valve that appears very involved to get off. The heat worked before I drained the system to replace the coolant tubes. I have bled air out of the system on steep slopes until I am blue in the face. Bled it up. Bled it down. There is a bleeder on top of the engine and one at the radiator. Is there another bleeder hidden near the heater?
This diagram shows a water valve lever (72123c). Not sure how to get to it nor why it would quit working after you changed your coolant. Looks like it connects to the heater core. This diagram is also for my 1996 truck with no AC. I changed all of my coolant lines a while back and luckily I had no problems afterwards. Did you try leaving the radiator cap off while the engine warms up?
update on my heater questions... guess im just stupid. heres what i found out: on "vent"/dash settings it only blows cold air! no matter what the setting of temp. on DEF or Floor or any combo of those? heat or cold or any mix. so it wasnt really broken, i was just too stupid to understand how it worked. this is something i can work with.
Yes, at least on the KS/KV chassis, heat only works on the defrost or floor settings. That may or may not be true on the TT/TV chassis.
The vans are like this too. I thought I had a clogged front heater core because only the rear heater was getting warm. Then I tried defrost and plenty of heat came pouring up out of the dash.
