Hello everyone! I'm based in Denver, CO and have a '91 Honda Acty which I've had for a little over a year and it's my daily driver! I have a modest youtube channel which I document me figuring out this awesome car since most shops I bring it to turn me away. The youtube and instagram documenting my cars are both @milehighkei

I also have a '91 Suzuki Carry which at the moment doesn't have an engine. I bought it off of a regional dealer in Paonia, Dan at Star Truck Enterprises, which the hopes of making it a racecar lol. Thinking of putting a turbo rotary in it when I get the money, but at the moment she is just sitting and a gem to look at.

Thanks for looking! I've been doing a lot of research and am talking to some people in Japan about using Honda Beat performance parts on the Acty. Will report back on my success on here and my youtube channel.

That's pretty funny that you bothered to put it on a dyno... good stuff!

I'll have to check out your channel... and yea most of the shops I do bring mine to for little things I would have to show them what needs done. Funny as you mention rotary as mine is getting a NA 13B in it. Lots of work for sure... but now that she is swapped, I doubt I'll be taking mine to anywhere but the shop that swapped it. Or Mazda specific places if I ever leave the area.

Welcome to the forum! I viewed several of your YouTube videos a few months ago and enjoyed them a bunch! We need more awareness and info in the states on these guys.

There was a guy in some YouTube videos a few years back who put a 1600-cc engine and tranny from a shaft drive bike in one of the 2wd vans. He said it would hold its own on the freeway.

That sounds awesome! Seems like a rotary is a good fit, no? Where are you based out of?

I totally agree. The lack of awareness is the cool and bad part about these cars. They're so outside of everyone's comprehension, it's a double edged sword. Trying to have fun with them so I can figure everything out first hand. Thanks for watching the videos!

It is but we had to raise the seating in the cab 4 inches higher so the drip pan wouldn't be so low. Also, the transmission is really long... as you can see with how short the rear driveshaft is haha. I am over near Oak Harbor, WA.

Very true. I own a Daihatsu shirt and a hoodie that I would occasionally wear and cool when people recognize them. I remember a lady coming up to me when I used to live down in San Diego and saying what a good choice it was compared to getting a big truck and how cool they were (she drove a new model mini cooper).

That's awesome! Did raising the seating cause any headroom problems? I'm 6'4" so that might be an issue considering things are tight for my legs as is. Just had the crazy thought of mounting the 13b to a flipped VW transaxle, seems like people have done it before and there's adapters out there.

Got any pictures of the engine mounted up? Would love to see them.

Yea you loose headroom. I am 5'9 and if I sit ramrod straight, u can hit the roof. That will all be fixed.

I have a few pictures... I have a build thread here which you'd enjoy.

I think that if I had a 2wd, that I was upgrading the engine on, I’d be looking for a wrecked big bike as the donor. One of the flat four, or flat six, water cooled shaft drive bikes, would be pretty straight forward, and keep the torque and horse power in a range where the stock rear differential might hold up for a while.

I thought of this too. I've just seen a couple Kei Trucks with 'Busa swaps in them. Toyed around with an idea to use a Goldwing motor. Just something about the rotary keeps calling me back. Also found a company that makes an adapter plate to a 914 transaxle. So maybe that'll work lol
