HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE CAT CONVERTER ON A 94 CARRY DD51T. THANK YOU

Dave, I am not familiar with your vehicle but in the parts diagrams it looks like the cat is bolted directly onto the exhaust manifold. You may be able to disconnect the exhaust pipe from the cat via the 2 bolts and knock the guts out with a long screwdriver or something, or you may have to take it completely off to clean it out and just reinstall the bare housing in order to bolt up the exhaust again.

You have another post somewhere that I can't find about the temp gauge. It sounds like you have an intermitant short to ground in the wire that goes from the temp sender on the engine to the gauge. Maybe the insulation has rubbed off somewhere where it touches the body or frame metal or it may be pinched somewhere.

Im planning on removing the entire manifold and may even build a header for it?

Dave, Just noticed there is a thread up above in the "stickies" area of this suzuki forum, it is the 7th one down from the top. Go through it and there are a couple pictures. Should help you out some.

Not to kidnap this thread but, is there a way to build torque with the exhaust?

    Turbo.

That would be nice but a turbo would just add HP!

YES, short pipes will build torque in the lower RPM's, long pipes will build it in the higher RPM's. so for a 660cc think fo long as 18" before the pipes converge to a header.
short maybe 8", 3 into 1 straight piped.
but for these small engines you want high exhuast velocity to gain power.
a 2" exhuast pipe at the outlet of the 3-1 will flow all the air you'd ever want a 660 to move, even with a turbo!!
a small turbo will gain you upto 60% low end torque! i can link you a turbo that will spool in by about 2500rpm's and give you 6psi reliably for 10+ years!! it's only 350$!
its sized for 125cc - 650cc engines. the 660 would LOVE it. (ive uesd it sucsessfully on 750cc engines too! it made GOOD power even at 14k rpm's!!
you can otherwise get a supercharger for it for about 350$! its 500cc/turn! on the 660 it'd make about 7.5psi!!
i didnt mean to revive an old thread, i just came across this when looking for performance upgrades and i know a cat removal will also gain torque through the curve!
if you want more torque a ignition box with a custom ignition curve can give you upto 15% more torque naturally aspirated!!!!!
a couple things you'd do to a 2stroke to gain power, will also work on the 660!
more airflow, porting and polishing the heads (exhuast polish, intake rough it up) mlling the head for increased compression (hoping its not an interference motor)
bigger carb, even going for individual carbs per cyl will also give a huge net gain in power and torque!
more torque at higher rpm's means more HP! hp isnt just an empty number!
a carry with more hp than another carry of the same stat not only will go faster, it will tow more, and it will use less MPG (naturally aspirated) than a carry with less HP. (less throttle needed to maintain speed)
reducing unsprung mass will also play a huge roll in starting from a stop, and acceleration times!

I have the OEM cast manifold at the moment that has about 8" runners to a collector and then 2" exhaust with an allum turbo muffler.

I am planning to just pick up an Arctic Cat 660 snowmobile, the NA is at 80hp and I have the header for it already.

One thing I have thought about is a Weber 2 barrel!
I had several on larger 2.2 &2.4 Nissan motors!
But it's a down draft and I don't think there is room?

if stock is 8" then that changes things. short for that engine would be about 3-4" then man. but what really will make power in a 4stroke is having a straight airflow path. try and gentle out any airpath bends.
like driving at speed, taking a sharp turn will cause all sorts of messed up things to happen. but at speed taking a gentle curve to make that turn is alot more smooth.
just like that. and that applies through the whole RPM band.

I have used the wonderful Weber 2 throat on several different engines in the past with 1600 cc being the smallest displacement I have tried it on. Not so sure if it can be tuned down to 660 ccs? As You mentioned, it is downdraft & some kind of adapter may be tricky with available space while considering smooth airflow.

So are there any High Performance Carbs?

If I was going to try changing carbs, I’d try one of the single barrel side drafts made for the 1-liter engines. I think Weber, and Solex made some for Europeans cars in the fifties, and sixties.

But, if I was going to the trouble of dabbling with things, I’d probably go with one of the Ecotron set ups for the engines in the 660 engine size. This would probably work, with a bit of tweaking to get it mounted: https://www.ecotrons.com/small_engine_fuel_injection_kit/400cc_to_800cc_engine_fuel_injection_kit/

A single SU Carb from a 1275 Midget/ Mini or Sprite would be about the perfect carb if you could fit it.

Fred had mentioned the EFI set up before wondering on cost
I have been looking for the Arctic Cat 660 to use it's EFI (80hp)

The factory EFI units, I’ve seen all are direct port injection, and short of just swapping in the whole head, and manifold set up, won’t work to upgrade teh carbureted version of the engine.

The Ecotron setup, is a throttle body injector system. So, it would be reasonably easy to set up on a carb engine. Plus the Ecotron ECU can run the ignition, and thus you can very the timing curve
