Im a Moderator on SnowmobileForum.com And there is a Arctic Cat snowmobile with the Susuzki 660 motor in it! Stock it is about 80hp, but there is also a Turbo version at 125! It also has a dry sump oil system and fuel injection! Has anyone tried to put this to uses in a Mini Truck?
does the sled motor have any provision for mounting a transmission? My snowmobile experience is sadly decades out of date now but I don't remember any sleds not having dedicated blocks that only support CVT mounting. The keyed crank could probably be dealt with - probably - but I don't think mounting an automotive transmission to the block would be easily overcome. EDIT to add: I hope I'm wrong!!
the power band maybe an issue as skidoo clutches engage somewhere above 3000rpm and what is the redline? i am betting it is cammed for all high rpm power and nothing down low in the rpm
The crank would have a 30 MM tapered crank. But the intake and exhaust might be the same, maybe even the head? And if I can get the whole sled for parts I might look into it?
I would say it could be done! Would be way easier if you were a machinist, or are close friends with one, and have access to a machine shop to make the taper to flange flywheel adapter, and then its just fab a motor cradle that mounts to the mini truck bell housing! I would love to see this, wouldn't mind being part of making this happen! I would love to pull wheelies in my mini!
I don't think my brakes are that good! I was thinking a much easier set up! Just pull the head and do a top end swap, intake and exhaust! Including the EFI system!

So there is a guy doing a similar thing in a Subaru 360, he is posting it on the Subaru 360 Facebook page. He took the top end/engine off of the tranny and is mating it via a custom mount plate to the side of the tranny. Its a air cooled v-twin engine like 17 hp I think. He wants it just to put around in I think as a pit car or something. I have a Subaru Sambar 660 with a bad engine and I may consider trying to do this with a larger 4 stroke of some kind. My issue is I do not want the engine up on top in the bed at the rear. Phil
Oh I agree Id want something with more power IE I was thinking of a Yamaha Phazer 500 engine which generates 80 hp. But the concept/idea is there and looks plausible to do as this person is doing with a subie360.
The block for the sleds is specially made for them. The best way to make it work is to use the truck block with the Sled internals and cylinder head. My only gripe with the stock HP is hills and carrying weight. It's the only time that it's in any way inadequate although it's still adaquate. A turbo manifold ( which is easy to get ) and a turbo would likely run low boost just fine and that would pull the hills better
So far all I have learned is that the sled has a dry sump. But I believe the head might interchange and must have larger ports? I was hoping to do the intake and exhaust and the EFI?
I thought there was another thread on this topic and someone who has see both engines apart stated the snowmobile head would not work on a Cary engine as the ports would not line up ie coolant ports and so on.... Phil
Hi I am new to the site.. I have a 2002 Suzuki with a turbo intercooled 660 Artic Cat engine installed. Turns about 110 hp !!

He is running the stock Suzuki trans. My understanding is that the Cat motor has a bolted on tapered crank PTO! The oil pan and stuff had to be swapped over but the block is the same!
