This truck came with a mechanical fuel pump. Previous owner placed an external electric fuel pump. This one pumps continuously from the time the key is turned to the on position. Gas is now in oil. Does anyone know what PSI & type of external electric fuel pump to use and how to wire it so that it only pumps when the motor is running?
Also, my fuel Guage is not working. Any ideas about how to get the Guage working again?
    Thx in advance!!

You might wire it through an oil pressure switch so it will pump only when there is oil pressure. You will have to also install a momentary type push button switch in parallel with it so you could run the pump prior to starting in order to fill the bowl of the carb.

The only problem is the $350 price tag

Latest research has me leaning toward a 1-2 PSI electric pump $68 (sold my NAPA) with no pressure regulator or return needed. Anything to consider with this plan??
