Hello everyone! My name is Ulises, it's a pleasure to be a part of this forum. I am a potential 1990 Honda Acty Attack owner. I just had a few questions for all of you who have owned or still own one of these Kei trucks. How are they as far as city driving? How much are they usually as far as insurance goes? And the one I am looking at is a 1990, 28k original miles, 656cc E07a engine, has minor tears in driver seat but that's to be expected. I have been sent a video of the truck and it starts up first try and idles well I hear nothing wrong. They want $7295 and I just didn't know if that was a far price or what I should be asking for? I would love some advice. It will be my first time buying something like this but I do really like the truck. Thanks for your time, hope to hear from you guys!

Great looking truck and great km's for the age but run away from that deal. You can get a mid 2000's model, fuel injected, hi / low with AC for that money. It's a shame what some people are asking for the 25 year plus trucks. Some guys are even bold enough to ask that type of strong money for the 550cc models from the late 80's.

I see you're in NC. Check out minitruckdealer.com and look at their pricing. They supply dealers all over the US with the EPA exempt (25 + yr) trucks and the EPA "certified" trucks. For the newer trucks that need the engine family to be certified, they are one of the only two companies that actually import anything less than 25 years old.

Is there any website similar to KBB for these mini/Kei trucks? I'd like to have various sources to why I am more then likely going to ask for less then asked for. I checked out the website and a lot of the prices I have to contact the dealer. I intend to but are there any other places you'd recommend I could find similar trucks to compare pricing?

Hey there Ulises, a 1990 Acty doesn't sound that bad for that price tag but again, you should check out a few more options. And as @Inane2 said you'll come across many dealers who would quote insane figures. Hope you have also asked for some maintenance records and such info.

If you are considering importing from Japan, you can get in touch with me as there are a few options I may suggest for you. You can check out this one here https://substarinc.com/cars/listing/1991-honda-acty_177

It is a 1991 model of Honda Acty has some 35k mileage, but if its an option for you, then why not. There are also a couple of options if you may be interested to check them out.

I checked out the website and it did definitely have more options then where I searched! The trucks looked amazing there are even some I had never heard of. I am very green when it come to these truck I know little to nothing about them. Everything so far both of you have told me I have taken into consideration. You did say if I was importing, you may have a few options for me? I was curious as to what the may be?

Couple of other sites to look at: Take a look at a seller on eBay "NipponWayInternational". Guy imports 25 year exempt trucks right to port in New York (so, they're already over here in the US). Look at his active listings and then search his "sold" listings. He's been selling the heck out of them. Here is a link to try:

    http://www.ebay.com/sch/nipponwayin...lete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2046732.m1684

Can't really establish a solid base line because if you look at the bidders and the bidder history, alot of times, you'll see the same names bidding on multiple trucks and then you'll also see some bidder names that according to their bid history, only bid on his trucks (and nothing else on eBay). Doesn't necessarily mean anything but it can make you wonder if someone is running them up.

Check out GooNet Exchange. Search under "mini vehicles". Keep in mind, these vehicles are still in Japan.

For the $7,295 you were quoted, your awful close to being able to buy a 40' container of 7 trucks (without shipping and all the other overhead costs).

Hey Ulises, by the options, I meant the other mini trucks that you see in our website listings. It's good you have seen them. We do the shipping for you and you can see the shipping costs on every listing on the site. I am sure that you will also see significant saving if you compare it with the $7,295. Get in touch with me if you would like more info, a video of any mini truck on our listing and anything else.

    Cheers!

Jude/Substar, your website is sub-par, can't pull up your listings.

Hey man I just picked up a truck that sounds almost exactly like the one you described from an importer with all paperwork for $2800 here in Las Vegas.

Keep your eyes open! The guy here has many more too and it'd be worth it to have it shipped home if you're saving over 4 grand.

Why are you being dishonest? And please if you decide to tell your story and experience please say it all without hiding anything. I came across your post yesterday and I was really shocked. After talking with one of my colleague and my boss, asking them about a customer who had such an experience they told me of your story and your threats as well.

The vehicle got into an accident and that is something that we couldn't oversee or avoid. As a gesture to what happened, we had to do something to make it right for the valued customer and we offered to exchange the vehicle with another one which was done. First off, WE did not give you a vehicle or switched without your knowledge. We did it in solidarity to what had happened. We cannot deliver a vehicle even if it gets a scratch.

After receiving the vehicle, you subjectively or personally felt that it was a little lower or deserved to bear a lower price tag than the initial one. So, you went ahead and DEMANDED that you are refunded a certain amount. As much as we would have loved to Apparently this wasn't going to happen as we already felt that we gave you a more pricier vehicle just to counter the shortcoming. In your communication, you also mentioned that if the amount you asked for was not refunded, you will go ahead and tarnish our name, which I believe is what you are doing here and every other place out there.

And our blog is not meant to advertise vehicles and there is no particular vehicle advertised on that blog. We may use images to demonstrate or highlight a particular vehicles or vehicle parts on the blog but that doesn't mean that we are selling that vehicle. And anyone who visits the blog can see that we are not advertising the vehicles that we use.

This is one of the fewer cases that we've come across. But always in every business there will always be unhappy and dishonest customers who will always want to bite off more than they can chew.

Wherever you are going with this, I PERSONALLY feel that although you may have injected fear and shivers in some potential customers, we have way more happy customers (including some that are here on this forum) and we have way more happy customers and hopefully one or two will chime in here. And we are no crooks by any chance.

Pictures say a thousand words, and I am done speaking on this topic. bad box 1.jpg bad box 2.jpg bad box 3.jpg

I am removing the entire box down to the deck, and will custom build a new one. Put $1100 already into the cab to make it less embarrassing. Lessons in life

Whoa man.. do u have any pics of the original one for comparison? Mine looks pretty bad like that. Been sanding down painted, sloppy Bondo. I did not use this same importer though.

That's not even close to the pictured truck, and that's not shipping/accident damage. That's a scrap truck (sorry C'pn C.) pawned off on the sly. You'd sure never see anything that bad on the road here, suspect 'rescued' from the crusher.

@Supspar Jude... no doubt you are by no chance crooks, that's fraud done on purpose.

Captain... how much did you fork over for that POS, if you don't mind me asking... sorry if I missed it in earlier posts.

To have it shipped to Halifax total costs was 10500 Canadian. They did provide the truck they showed me to replace it with.. my beef is its a wreck.. and the pictures they sent promising an equal replacement to what I thought I was buying did not show any damage as you can see. I had to basically remove the entire box down to the frame, and its at a body shop now getting rebuilt. Cab is also a disaster. Plus I had to do approx. 1100 in body work to get out the dents and make the cab less embarrassing. My lesson here and hopefully for everyone reading this is to make sure they can't pull a switch on you like they did with me. When I got the email it was in a crash and I'm on the hook, is an email I hope no one ever has to read. You basically feel you are out 10 grand to a stranger overseas, and I was at his mercy to provide me with.. wellll anything. If I were to do this all again I would buy one already in country, or deal with someone in Canada that brings them in. I tried to save money by cutting out a middle man, and look what I got.. it now would have been cheaper to just buy one here and pay the extra to avoid the risk.
I really am working hard on getting this unit up to snuff, and will be posting pics soon. Having custom bumpers made, and already have tracks installed. Once I put the winter camo wrap on it, it should look bad ass.

Holy. S--- ... ouch. New ones cost just a bit more than that here, what did they do, mail it 'one piece at a time' Johnny Cash style?

That's just crazy... sorry. Kudos for making the best of it.
