Door lock and ignition lock fix - graphite powder

Especially in winter time the door locks and the ignition lock on my Acty made a problem that they would get stuck in one position. The ignition key I sometimes could not move back from ACC to LOCK = could not get the key out of the ignition lock.
Turning slightly the wheel left and right and wiggling with the key helped, so far. Gearshift was properly in Park position and I also always pressed the brake pedal really hard.
    Now I solved the problem.
Picked up some powdered graphite at a hardware store, it is made for this application. Squirted a bunch inside the lock and a little on the key, turned the key 10-20 times to distribute the graphite inside the locks and now it works perfectly. Even in colder temperatures. Let's hope it stays that way.

Good Info, mine works similar to yours....not so smooth. I got a couple extra keys made and the guy at the store noticed how worn my original key was. He was worried the new keys wouldn't work very well or at all. They did however but they take some wiggling to get them moving. I think I'll try some powered graphite too. Thanks.

Yes, you can also make it DIY. It is a dry lubricant. It does not gum up a lock. DIY: All you need is sandpaper and a lead pencil, the graphite coming from the pencil.
Reduces friction, noise and wear caused by friction, for locks, gears, nut and bolt threads, bearings, lubricant for door locks, small tools, hinges, bolts, and screws under extreme temperatures.
