Hi, group - this is my first post after just recently buying a 93 Suzuki Carry DD51T 4x4 with manual transmission. As you can see in the photo the previous owner had a pretty sweet custom utility box made for it, which I like because I plan on using the truck for work in downtown Montreal. On the downside the box weighs a good portion of the payload capacity even when empty (I'd say 300 lb easy), and it also renders the back access panel completely inaccessible. Right off the bat I noticed an oil leak coming from the distributor area (visible from below and in front), so I figured I'd get the box off right away to clean things up and take a look. The truck also has very choppy idling so I figured we could take a look at the timing etc. The previous owner had changed the distributor cap and rotor at least twice in the past four years. One has to assume this was always done from below with the truck on a lift if the box was in place. Lo and behold when I finally got the panel off one of the cap screw mounts had broken off the distributor casting and the cap was hanging loose! So I ordered in a new used distributor, changed that out, and changed the timing belt at the same time (this was done by a neighbourhood mechanic). Also have to change the big o-ring on the dist. case. Got the truck back, and while the engine seems to run smoother the idle is still very rough and it stalls at stoplights when cold. So here I am now on the forum, reading up on the vacuum system and carburetor, and learning as much as I can about getting this little guy back into good running shape. Now to decide if I put that box back on or make a new lighter one with nice easy access to that back panel! Looking forward to getting into it.

The 300# box should not be a problem. I typically carry 1200 LBs. I have added heavier front springs and rear shackles for height. Go with front 250" coil springs which will give added height. about 2" longer shackles in rear to even out. 175/70R13 tires. and you will be good to go. Welcome to the forum and have fun.
