I'm thinking of buying a 95 hijet. I've been researching lift kits and I see 2" lift kits and then i see 250# springs that say they will lift a couple inches. can I just put the springs on and get 2"? If I put the kit and the springs on both will this give me a total of 4" in the front?
my truck hasnt made it on the boat yet but i think i will go with springs then see how much it lifts before i look into making spacers for the struts.
sometimes if you decide to go with springs and lift you will make so that Camber will not be able to adjust with tie rod threads. Consider either lift or just springs and larger tires. giving you total of 3 1/2 " lift. For me I went with heavy Coil springs and larger tires. Very happy with results. Tony
One more thing. speedway coil springs = $75 plus steel for shackles $10 plus new bolts $10 lift 2" = $200 and lousy reaction with stock coils Tony
I put in 250 coils but I think I should of put in 225 like I originally planned. The ride is a bit harser. And I have to put in a set of camber bolts as the camber is at 87.5 degrees right now. I have yet to check what the lift did to the toe on the front end.
No they replace one of the bolts on the strut. They have a cam on them that as when you rotate the bolt it tips the top of the tire thus changing the camber. Adjusting tie rods affects the toe setting of the alingment. There is threads on the forum with pn for the Napa 12mm camber bolts that fit.
thank you for that information. I just did my lift with 250# AFCO coils. I will get those camber bolts NAPA #264-3641 Tony
Keep in mind that with this type suspension, when you tip the top of the tire to the center of the vehicle, you will be increasing the angle of operation of the outer Axle joint more than the inner joint and with a bit of lift, you may exceed the designed operating angle. This could get expensive in a hurry. Might be best to run just outside the recommended Camber angle and adjust the Toe-in slightly to compensate and eliminate as much tire scrubbing as possible. Just something to give some thought to.
