    Hey all,

I'm importing a 97 Carry to BC. I've been warned that one of the tricky aspects is the square headlights. The beam pattern needs to be compliant with left hand drive.

Any one have any advice or resources on how to deal with this?

    Cheers

good question. I just recently did my round head lights on my 1996 Carry but that was easy. I am also bring in a 2000 this fall so I will keep tabs on your progress.

You may be the only one following this Tony...

So far I've found out 2 separate options:

    1) replace the stock headlights with aftermarket lights. These can be mounted to the front or mounted inside the existing headlight housing by cutting an appropriately sized hole in the stock headlight lens. One problem with this is that it can look ugly and can also allow water to get inside the stock housing.

    2) altering the beam pattern of the stock headlight so it doesn't shine into oncoming traffic. This is accomplished by using a heat gun to remove the stock lens, painting the reflector to prevent the kick up part of the beam and gluing the lens back on. One also needs an inspector that will accept this mod as valid.

I'm going to attempt choice number two...

heres a thought. But you could ask the chinese manufactures for a set of their headlights. Probably you would be able to purchase reasonably cheap. Oh but the chance of them fitting your truck would be slim. next instead of heating your headlight housing. How about adding shims to your light fixtures. Causing them to beam their light in the direct direction. I think some rubber washers should be able to do the trick. I definitely would like to be part of the solution. When you get your truck please drive by Radium Hot Springs for a pow wow.

Hi guys, just lurking in the background watching to see what you find out. Hi Tony!..lol

I'm just in the process of bringing back a 2000 Suzuki Carry, it should arrive the end of August, or at least that's the goal, so any light anyone could shed on getting our headlights compliant would be awesome!

I know it's going to be a simple solution. The only problem you may face is the actual lens not being compliant to Canadian standards. Again it will depend on facility doing safety. And that where greasy palms sometimes come into play
