I was going through some boxes of stuff in the garage the other day looking for some extra 4awg wire for my winch install when I ran across an old 6" monitor and an extra rear view camera that I had stashed away at some point in my 17 years of installing car audio. I got to thinking that that would be kind of handy to have on the Hijet this winter for plowing snow. One thing I've found since I've had my Daihatsu is that the visibility out of the back window is poor either due to its small size or constant reflections on the glass. I dug out the ol' fiberglass tools and some 'glass mat and started making a form of the dash to mount the monitor, and also some cup holders while I'm at it. Here's a pic of the first layer of mat, I'll try to take more as it goes, but it'll be a slow process due to limited time to mess with it. IMG_20150705_57245.jpg

Ok, I ended up going a different route with this than originally planned... I haven't really had a lot of time to mess with this project, so I just ended up ordering a clip-on monitor that goes over the existing mirror for now. I figured that for $30 on Amazon, it was worth it compared to me messing with fiberglassing the monitor I already have into the dash. I may still use the piece I started making to mold some cup holders at some point... IMG_20160107_16794.jpg IMG_20160107_20676.jpg
