I just bought a 1991 daihatsu s80lp 2 wheel drive. With some tinkering got running but when i took it for a run it shifted into low,third and reverse fine but would not go into first or second. I have never owned one before and don't know much about them. anyone have any ideas? anything would be appreciated.
Try to move the trans shifter attachment points on the trans Two shift cables. Does the gearshift move? Pull the plate off the box of the truck, get a friend to watch if both are working. If no, take the center shift cover off and see if they are attached. My guess is a broken shift cable.
