Hello all!New to the forums!I have a 1997 F6A Suzuki carry....when we first got it it was running fine until this last week it just last refused to start! We checked compression, spark etc and everything's good there....it's dumping a good amount of fuel and I believe something may be faulty with the carburetor! My question is my original carburetor has 5 vacuum line....three on one side and two on other....the carb I found as a replacement has three on one side and one on the other....would this work?

Every one immediately goes to the carb. when they have problems and by doing so create more problems more often than not.Slow down and check the easy, cheap stuff first because most of the time that's what it is.Is the choke working? Did a vacuum line pop off? Are you sure the coil is good?
Most of the problems with these trucks are simple things and though maddening make you grin when you find them. If you are bound and determined to change the carb. go with what you have if it's original. Your best bet is to sit down and spend a couple of hours reading in this forum and you'll most likely find that someone else has encountered the same thing and fixed it.When you do get it fixed Please post your fix so others can learn .

about a year ago it started giving us a issue where it wouldnt want to stay running unless you pumped the pedal while it ran....it's now at the point where it'll crank but won't start....Plugs were moist with fuel....so I changed those out....I figured something may be sticking in the carb.I checked choke and it gets a full 12v with key on....fuel pump is pushing fuel also....have good strong spark from coil....

A lot of times the ethanol fuel will gum up the works and what most of us have found to work is Seafoam, especially the Deep Creep formula that comes in an aerosol can. If your plugs are wet then you are getting fuel and you say you have good spark at the coil but what about at the plug? Are your wires good?Distributor cap?Rotor ? A while back my truck started running rough and I took the cap off and the electrode on the rotor was gone where it contacts the center of the cap at the coil wire.It still ran but not very well.
It's impossible to fix one from a computer a thousand miles away and all any one can do is offer ideas.Hopefully someone else that has had a similar problem will chime in with more advice.

Like Mr. Nelson said some times its the most simple thing that eats your goat.
From what you are describing I would say first check dist. cap, all vacuum lines, fuel filter, then carb.
If your truck was bogging down when stepping on pedal it is most likely needing a carb. rebuild.
However you could as Mr. Nelson suggested giving it a good dose of straight sea foam and making sure carb. is full with it, let it sit for half a day to all night. Then start over with good fuel and see if that helps. May have to treat it a couple of times if fuel system is varnished up big time. Sea Foam works wonders but sometimes the carb. is full of junk and it has to be pulled down and chemically clean.
Do let us know what the findings are please.
As for the vacuum lines 3/2 and 3/1 it depends on where the vacuum lines are going. Need to follow them and see where they go. Any lines going to 4x4 operations and choke you have to have. One or two of them should be going to air box. You could do without one of these lines.
But if it turns out to be the carb. you can send it off to Hite Parts(approx. 365.00) and have them rebuild it(it will be like new condition, and everything is preset bench tested) or order one from Yokohama Motors in Japan(approx. 275.00 plus shipping(65.00), you will all info. on plate under seat.

Ok so my 92 Suzuki starts cold fine runs great until it warms up I can watch the chock working fine and then it idles down and started shaking I thought the idle was set to low but this didn't fix it could it still be radiator lines on the carb or something else.

If it idles down then the coolant lines are fine and you have another problem, possibly idle speed or vacuum leak, maybe timing is off.If you have a timing light that would be an easy check then vacuum leaks.Try to stay away from messing with the carb because as tempting as it is that should be a last resort.

I replaced all vacuum lines the other day not sure about timing I wish I hadnt started messing with it trying to clean everything up it was running good before I changed oils and filter now it's not I'm frustrated to say the least!!!!!!!

Also does anyone know what the timing is supposed to be set at for 92 Suzuki ?

The book says 7 BTC but 9 or 10 is better. The problem with the idle is almost surely vacuum and sounds like a line routed wrong or a check valve or restricter backwards.

Ok thanks Jim I'm working on trying to figure out the lines today I may have hooked it up wrong can't be for sure! Also I have no idea about the check valves or restricters any help on these would be great or any one know of a source on hooking the carb up right altogether would be awesome too!

There is a thread titled "Desperately need tuning help" in this Suzuki section and it is a great source for carb. info.. There's a couple of other threads in here dealing with the subject but it takes a logy of time to locate them,I don't remember what they were but they are here some where.
